Maybe I'm over thinking it, but how do they come off? I have looked and tried but failed. I must not be seeing something. I guess I should try getting my glasses so I can see what I'm doing.

I put my glasses on and what do you know, The rear rail caps snap off! snap them off, slide the cross bars out, and snap the covers back on.
