My truck is a 2012 Denali and was wondering if somebody could tell me how to release the clip for the rear door handles? Which side should I pry from? These are not the same clips my 08 Tahoe had.....those were simple to open up lol! Thanks!

I spent over an hour trying to get this clip open and unable to find anything on the internet remotely close, except for this picture (forever thankful)...and no answer attached to it. There will be other sorry chaps who will be looking for an answer to this post and so here is my attempt.
On the lower right side, where the red arrow is pointing to, that is the hinge. You will need a dental mirror and a micro screwdriver. Remove the rubber grommet that is in the door to access the bolt for the handle. You'll need that out to better visualize the mirror. And don't forget a good flashlight to wedge in there. Put the dental mirror behind the yellow clip and you'll see a locking tooth with a clip around it.
From the left side of the clip (as pictured) you'll have to get your micro screwdriver in and behind it and Pop That Loop over that tooth. Then it opens up like a door on that hinge. Now I have 3 other handles to replace and it will take probably 20 minutes a door instead of two hours for this one door.
Here is the video I used...but uses the older clip
2008 GMC Yukon Denali rear door lock rod clip

Where would we be without the multi color and multi size zip ties. They are a wonder of engineering ingenuity.
After messing with the same clip for about 20 min, I find the solution.
Take the screws out of the door handle, then remove the 3 black screw on the side of the door holding the actuator. Once removed, this will give you enough play to slide the old door handle off, and slide the new one on. No need to remove the pesky clip.

I appreciate those of you who posted to this thread. I have a 2012 Silverado and while replacing the front passenger door handle, I broke the locking loop on the yellow clip (same as shown here). I was using the how-to video from 1aauto.com and they must have had the old style clip because in the video it just popped open.Another problem with these clips is when they get old and worn out they don't want to snap/lock shut. So you will have to do this unless you can find a new one:

Did you look on gmpartsgiant?Anyone ever figure out the part number for this damn clip. My 2011 Escalade had the old style, my 2012 platinum has this style. Needless to say I butchered one beyond zip tie fixable and can no longer open my door from the exterior
