I tried the Akebono ceramic, now the Wagner fleet for their good bite, but I'm after a set of pads that grab well when towing or just repeated use (lack of fade) and don't give that slight vibrating, grabbing sound when nearing a stop.

The calipers push back easy, I'm on my 2nd pair of Napa Ultra premium rotors that have warped again. I'm not abusing the brakes, I tow a small trailer on occasion but when I do tow I want the best compromise I can get with low rotor wear and lack of fade...which is a hard sell I know.

At least for being a DD, quiet brakes are what I want. They don't squeal, they just make that gripping, vibration when reaching a stop.

I don't really want to use Akebono again after what happened with my last 2 sets. The backing plate was machined with a gap (the mounting tabs are smaller causing rattle) and Akebono confirmed this. I bought the pads from RA not knowing they didn't come with hardware. Akebono sent me the new pads and hardware (mounting tabs) and the rattle was the same.

Their production team stated the pads are manufactured .4MM shorter and that seemed to match my findings.

They offered to send another (1194A) but why waste the time.

The Wagner semi metallic pads were the same dimensions as the OE and didn't rattle and squeal....but have that infamous "grunt" sound coming to a stop.

Open to all suggestions.

I like my powerstop tow pads and rotors
Make sure you are cleaning all the surfaces AND that you
are taking apart the sliders and using the correct synthetic brake grease on
them. I've seen too many "brake jobs" that haven't been done the correct way

Are they quiet? Do they have a roughness when braking like some aggressive Hawk pads?

Yes, all surfaces are clean with fresh grease on pins..nice and smooth.

just go down to autozone and buy a set of there duralast "premium ceramic and be done with it, they come with a lifetime warranty, if they wear out take them back exchange them for new ones, you never have to buy pads for that vehicle ever again, no brainer for me
there like $65 and that's all you will ever have to pay
if you are unhappy with ceramic, then get premium semi-metallic, little more dust but they are less likely to fade and they wear out faster than ceramic, but autozone sell those with a lifetime warranty as well.
if you are getting vibration (warping) unless you know for a fact that it is the rear then it is the front your going to feel, the front takes much more abuse than the rear and are going to be more prone to warping

Very nice. Just like stock feeling in pedal... But man they really do stop
SO much better. I have them all around on 3 of my vehicles. Buy the kit that
has the pads and rotors (slotted). You'll be happy. Follow their instructions exactly

gm sells a damper that screws onto the caliper. it's not really vehicle specific, just replace a caliper bolt with a stud and screws on to the stud. they were installed on something when the customer would. complained about the noise.

how much they will help you, I don't know. but they are pretty cheap and can't hurt. you seem pretty picky about you brakes.

I believe part #19364677 will bring them up on rock auto

Thanks....the noise I hear now is just from the nature of the severe duty pads.

As far as being picky...lol, this isn't being picky, this is a defect. This was from the Akebono pads...that's way too loose.

I didn't mean it in a bad way. it's just a different level of stuff normal people would never notice. I get it, things bug me too. I went thru 2 sets of pads and rotors till I found a combo I like and worked right with my yukon's regenerative braking.

at this point I have 2 different brands front and back and the dampers to get where I don't think about the brakes every time I stop.

I think there's more to the groaning at stop then just HD pads. I've heard oem pads do it, which I believe is why gm released the add on for the small number they complained.
