I have a 2015 Suburban with these air assisted leveling shocks in the rear that I am replacing with bilstein shocks. Is the spring on this setup a regular stock spring or is it weaker because it is being assisted by the air system? Do i need to get a new spring to go with the bilsteins?

Yes, you need new springs. I believe people use the MOOG hd set but not positive.

You absolutely need stronger springs, for the exact reason that you stated. Purchase the springs for the same model/year truck that did NOT have the air assist rear suspension feature.

Thanks guys, do you happen to have part numbers on hand or should I just go with the moog 81069 again?

I may be interested in your stock springs depending on your location / shipping and what not. And if your air compressor is in good shape and your removing it, i would be interested in that as well. My 15 had air suspension, and has sense been removed. I'd prefer to reinstall it and make it work again

Darn, always late to the party lol
I'm glad to read that you are considering going back to an OEM suspension.

Lots of differing opinions here regarding OEM or aftermarket suspensions, and I absolutely respect all opinions and mod outcomes. If it makes you happy, it is good. End of discussion.

If you continue to look at the OEM suspension option, I suggest that you look at RockAuto.com or GMPartsDirect.com for the best pricing on GM OEM parts.

Let us know how you make out.

i will, first thing is the next time the burb goes into the garage is to look under it to see what all is still left of the OEM suspension, so i know what i need to order to bring it back to stock. And from there, find out if the original issue was the shocks, which means i'll be golden since i need new ones anyways, or the compressor, which will just mean i then have an entirely brand new rear suspension

Could always start out with used parts from Spalding's. 6 month guarantee. Probably under half the price of new.
