Ok, I'm new to the 2012 model of the Nav and entertainment system. Previously I had a 2011 and I could stick a thumb drive with mp3s on it into the USB port in the center console. This 2012 just sits saying on the screen "Reading USB....

I've tried 2 different thumb drives, both used to work in my 2011.

Is there something I'm missing? Do they have to be formatted a certain way or something?

I'll try that.

I did try my old ipod nano and it worked fine, so I know the USB port is working

Most likely there is something on that USB that is causing it to hang. Maybe an unreadable file. I would wipe it out and add little by little until you run into something that is possibly causing your issues.

That worked. I reformatted the drive and re-added my folders/files and it sees them now.

Thanks
