Ok, I finally got my hands on a brand new Z71 (2023) earlier this month after searching since Feb 2022! That being said, I am bit OCD and there are some things in the build quality that I find annoying...am I being unreasonable or is this the case with all cars?

1. Rubber seal when I lift tailgate up has a hole in it (bottom left hand side) that appears to be maybe a small drain hole but is "torn" and doesn't match the size of one on opposite side of vehicle. The rubber seal in this area is also distorted a bit and doesn't run flush like the other side.
2. The plastic backing that attaches to the interior of the trunk lid has plastic sticking out of the sides in multiple places...like the wrapper on the other side hadn't been removed completely.
3. Small scratch about 1.5" on the plastic in the 3rd row seating area.
4. When looking at the door seal on the frame of the vehicle with the driver side door open, it appears that the weld/shape is not completely smooth underneath the rubber as there's a "bump" instead of it running smooth like the other door side.
5. Similar "bump" in the rubber lining the far back passenger side rear window...you run your finger over it and it doesn't feel like the rubber is the problem but the metal underneath isn't smooth like it should be.
6. Tiny speck on the paint that is almost like a piece of salt got trapped under the clear coat...and it happens to be right on the front of the hood dead center and annoys me if I look for it in certain light.
7. Both red tow hooks have chips on them.
8. Small imperfection in the head liner right where the sunroof cut out is.

Overall, I'm probably the only person that would notice these and the truck looks great...but is this normal for Chevy or a new vehicle in general? I don't remember anything when I bought my last car (2014 Lexus IS 250).

It’s a Chevy. At least that’s what my friend would tell me. Lol
if it has all these issues, why did you take it? Did you bring it back to the dealer and ask them to address them?

I picked this thing up in another state and drove it home. I probably should have done a full inspection on-site but I wouldn't have noticed or caught most of these things...to anybody else the car looks immaculate. My other concern is they are certainly not deal breakers for my purchase so I'm not sure what the dealer can/would do given some of these are probably not possible to "fix" and the truck isn't "defective" in any way.

It doesn't hurt to take it to your local dealer and see what can be done about these items.

A small little piece of salt under the clearcoat is the only issue you could find with the paint? Look closer LOL. I have read numerous posts about owners complaining of horrific paint quality. Much of it seems to be either on the hood or the roof. I know the high country my wife got had some shoddy paint work on it.

@rmsnickers yea we picked up our 23’ high country suburban last week and I noticed a scratch on the center consule on passenger side which was pretty noticeable. These workers want massive raises but don’t give 2 sh*ts as these $90k rigs go down the line

I have scratches across the RSE 1.5'' long, a chip on my steering wheel, paint issues on the hood and door, scratch on the pano... the list goes on. I know it'll get that way with kids and door dings, but new hurts :(

I'm not sure if I feel better hearing about others having similar issues or worse since I know how annoyed I am and don't wish that for others ;) Here are a few pics showing the tow hooks and the bump on the rear window lining.

i‘m like you. I worry about every nick until I get the first scratch. Then I’m ok. Don’t sweat the little things. The scratches on the tow hooks could be from the ride home. I drive back and forth to nyc. I always get a chip here and there. If it is solid otherwise you are gtg.
By it’s a Chevy I meant it’s never perfect.
On my23 burb one set of the exhaust pipes point slightly up and is not level with the other side.

I’m 100% satisfied with my 21 Trail Boss and 23 Yukon Denali.
The TB has only 20K miles and the Yukon 8K. We also have a Toyota and a Honda for our kids with over 100K. Also zero problems
