I think they start Monday. That was the plan as of this morning. Block, brick, and mortar sand are ordered as well.when you getting bricked up big dawg
Footers are poured. They didn't do the deck piers.
Everyone was gone when I got there. Tried to call my builder but went straight to vm. He must be tapped out. Called my excavator to see what the yardage ended up being. He said 78 or 79 yards, he couldn't remember exactly.
That's a serious ****** footer

Block. 12" CMU everywhere thats retaining fill, 8" CMU above that. I have to stub a 2' bar up every 36" and fill that core with grout. The 12" block will also act as my bridge ledge, if I'm understanding correctly. So what is going on the footers? Just block? No concrete walls?
No basement. Considered it, but Steph didn't want the extra space to clean. Probably be encapsulated (waiting on a quote) and may pour a small pad to put outdoor type things under there. The foundation is going to be over 10' tall on that back corner, but doing 2-3' of back fill to mask it, inside and out. Also allows an under drain inside the foundation.no basement or lower level cut into the hill correct? see a lot of houses up there that do that, i think thats the only place youd want/need a poured wall to help with the waterproofing
What are they using to waterproof the block? No basement. Considered it, but Steph didn't want the extra space to clean. If I were doing a basement, it would 100% have been poured walls. They will still waterproof my block, but I wouldn't trust it on a basement
exciting stuff bro, going to come together quickNo basement. Considered it, but Steph didn't want the extra space to clean. No clue. Probably just the black tar type stuff. He just told me he called the guy that does the waterproofing to let him know we were starting next week. What are they using to waterproof the block?
Thanks man. Its def increased in speed over the last week. Everything has moved so slow, I'm pretty happy to see some real progress.exciting stuff bro, going to come together quick
There is damp proofing which is the regular fdn coating and waterproofing which is a thicker liquid or rolled membrane. No clue. Probably just the black tar type stuff. He just told me he called the guy that does the waterproofing to let him know we were starting next week.
Take all the space you need in this thread. I enjoy hearing your experiences.Enjoy the process Ty, in no time you’ll be looking for the CO (people say C of O, certificate of occupancy, but i think thats gay) to move in.
I didn’t but ive seen people get a home inspection from an independent company before moving in.
We moved in, or should i say i moved in, before we got the CO because our old house sold, my wife was just released, or in the process of being released or something, to go home from the hospital because of complications with our daughters birth ( da wif was stuck in the hospital for 2 months prior to having my #1 then had to stay another 2 weeks after she gave birth and that hospital was in the bronx which was like 1.5 hours from home, work was really busy and we pretty much had no where to sleep… house was 97.9999% done. We had no kitchen counters or sink so it was plywood and a chepo depot sink until the granite came in, the brand new well pump took a crap, tile guy still had to finish, my interior stairs weren’t stained yet and my painter was taking his sweet ass time priming, i actually told him good enough and we had primer walls for a few months…ahhh good times, good times.
You’re good with a camera and documenting things and believe me, a lot of the pictures i took helped me out when i was doing things around here..
Sorry to take a page in your thread, its taking me back tho, some of the process was stressful but overall its a great feeling when you see ***** getting completed.
There hasn't been much activity back there throughout the grading process and stuff. Once material arrives on site, that could change.also... construction sites around here for security set up a few trail cams at the entrance and/or a panned out view of the build site. might be a good idea and provide a time lapse
I pictured the stuff you spray on. I can clarify when I talk with him again. There is damp proofing which is the regular fdn coating and waterproofing which is a thicker liquid or rolled membrane.
Will there be perimeter insulation on the below grade walls? Under the slabs too, along with vapor barrier? Using mesh reinforcement or fiber?Take all the space you need in this thread. I enjoy hearing your experiences.
I plan to keep taking photos/video. Especially when the plumbing and electrical is, before the drywall goes up.
We say CO round these parts, btw. Also, there's so many decisions around the corner. I feel like I thought of everything, but I know haven't.

My builder has worked with his set of subs for years, but you never know about the hired help.

No perimeter insulation. Vapor barrier, yes. That's code here. Waiting on a quote for crawl space encapsulation. If it's outrageous, it'll just be heavy mill plastic as a vapor barrier stone. Not sure what order they put the vapor barrier/stoneWill there be perimeter insulation on the below grade walls? Under the slabs too, along with vapor barrier? Using mesh reinforcement or fiber?
Keyway or dowels in the slab joints? No perimeter insulation. Vapor barrier, yes. That's code here. Waiting on a quote for crawl space encapsulation. If it's outrageous, it'll just be heavy mill plastic as a vapor barrier stone. Not sure what order they put the vapor barrier/stone
No clue. If I understand correctly, they pour the garage slab on top of the blocks, so it's almost "monolithic". The only other slabs I have will be entry on the back side of the garage and front porch.Keyway or dowels in the slab joints?
See, I'm not looking at my neighborcant wait for you to get started on mine
