I pulled the roll pan off today to install the receiver hitch and this is what I found, well had to get the hitch on their anyway so drilled a couple holes where I could so the unit had all 6 bolts in there. But why did they use a torch to cut the ends off the damn frame? I was wanting to put a bumper on but now I dont know if I can without some fabrication! :emotions122:

Thats what they do when they install a roll pan. The oem bumper needs something to attach to and when u put a roll pan it hits it so they cut it off.... Rollpans suck imo

yeah I need a bumper and all the hardware...and the rollpan can go in the trash! I knew they cut the ends of the frame but damn they could have at least cut it straight or made it a little more straight!

Ooooph, that sucks. The person or persons who did that are complete hacks.
If you could find one in a junk yard it might be worth your time to go and cut that section off and see if you can weld it back on, with reinforcements of course.

Best way is to weld a plate on both sides then put the piece in the liddle n weld that in on each side. Gonna be strong but ypu will need longer bolts

truthfully not looking for strength just needs a bumper on there, wont use it to pull anything the truck will pull the boat with the receiver hitch. maybe I will just dust the welder off and build a bumper since its all gonna be a custom install now anyway! If I could find the person who actually did the cutting I would..

Lol. But yea the oem bumper is heavy i imagine so it would jeed to be reinforced eitherway so it doesnt break off while driving and hitting a bump

I am thinking about just keeping the rollpan on there to cover the cut frame and using the existing receiver hitch to build off of for a one off tube bumper setup. maybe add a swing out spare tire carrier. Anybody ever do that?

Coun't you leave the roll pan on and cut & trim out a hole for it to work through??? You could always drill new holes in frame or hitch to relocate slightly to allow for this custom setup! Get a flip up plate, like so.....

I could do that but too much messing around the gas tank. I am gonna keep the roll pan but build off of the hitch. to look something like this.

Could you not get a lower drop hitch or space down the hitch mounting with a block drilled to match and longer grade 8 bolts?

Either way.... good luck!! IT's going to be a project no matter how you tackle it.
