When looking at gm site it states premium fuel recommended but not required.
So is it going to run poorly on regular? Just not understanding why the slt 5.3 v8 is ok for unleaded and the 6.2 needs premium? Also, if spending the money for premium fuel does this give it a boost in mpg?

The 6.2 has higher compression than the 5.3 is part of the reason they run better on premium. In my 2012 denali I ran premium most the time but did run regular unleaded some. I definently got better milage and power when running the premium. So far in my 2015 denali all I have ran is premium.

I have the 5.3 and run strictly super, the price difference is truly not that big, also when I get my tuner I'll have to run 93 anyways.

Same with my 2013 Denali XL. Running premium the gas mileage is 1-2 mpg better and more zippier on the throttle. Runs fine on 87 though. My rule of thumb as long as it is within 10% price it is worth it. If the spread is bigger, I use 87.

Definitely need to run 91+ on the 6.2Ls for optimal performance/MPGs.

Do not use E-85 in any 2105+ 6.2 DI engine. You will also notice there is no flex fuel sticker on your trunk lid.

In cooler weather regular should perform satisfactorily, but when it's hot premium fuel will definitely make a difference.

Temperature would be irrelevant due to the way ignition timing is controlled.
