Post your custom CAI setup

Im looking to make a custom cold air setup but i havent choosen what i wanted yet. I really like the Spectre "build your own" intake but i think i could make something cheaper. Anyway, show us what you have made.

With an electric hot knife i cut away the baffling then finished it smooth with a dremel. I had some 1/16" ABS sheeting from another project so I cut it to fit the openings left behind, heated it up and molded it to the contour of the intake then melted it into the intake. Because I do not trust my plastic welding skills, I also wrapped it all up in HVAC foil tape.

Next I cut out a 6" hole in the bottom of the air box and ran a clothes dryer duct from the box to the opening in the air dam.

Painted the ducting flat black so it did not stick out like a sore thumb and secured it to the air dam with a big fender washer so it would not rip it out.

IAT's at 129 degrees on a 103 degree day in Texas before the CAI. After the CAI on a 104 degree day, 98 degrees. On the very next tank of gas I went from 13.4MPG to 15.2, and have been holding steady ever since.

I can't bring myslef to gettting the Ebay cheapy 60 ones!!
Don't need it to mess up somethingin my Engine and run me more money than a quality intake would have anyways!

well i will say this one again... for me, its hard to disagree with my logic here.

You pay $60 for the ebay cheapy, which is LITTERALLY a direct rip off of the AEM BF. however there would be two possible weak leaks with these ebay intakes.

1. the filter quality
2. the gromit const.

You can buy an AEM filter which fits the ebay setups for under $60 which will put you at having a top quality intake for around $120

Lastly, the grommits... these may be of cheaper quality which means they wont last very long, but its something that can be replaced down the road.
