I went to wash my truck over the weekend, and I noticed a spot on my wheels. They are black in the center with a polished lip. Upon closer inspection, it looks as if the polished portion waswrapped in plastic (maybe clearcoat???), and half dollar portion of it has ripped away leaving jagged edges. There are a couple of other spots like this on same wheel. Any idea what would make this occur? What can I do to fix it? Thanks.

Sounds like they are clear coated. You can either strip the clear coat and polish them yourself or take them to a shop and have them to it. Personally I would do it myself and just not re-clear them.

Tape off the center and sand off the clear coat using 600 grit sand paper, then moove to 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 then polish with mothers wheel polish and a mothers power ball. That is how I would do it.
