chevy is offering a performance air intake cleaner as an option.

What does this do? Cost is not specified.
It’s not the high capacity air filter that comes on the rst

It voids your warranty just as any aftermarket one does, doesn't make as much power as aftermarket, and costs a shit ton more than aftermarket.

It’s a Chevy part that’s offered as an option in the ordering guide the same as tow hooks are. So it won’t void your warranty.

It won't unless it will, and at the point you find out one way or the other it will be you and your resources against General Motors and theirs. Considering that these don't add anything other than noise, I pass. To each his own.

Thanks. You answered my question. Adds noise.

To be clear, some people like the noise. It's not entirely unappealing.

It won’t void your warranty unless it can be proven that this mod caused whatever problem you encounter. If you sucked in a ton of sand and screwed the cylinder up, it could be so. If your tranny breaks, it’s highly unlikely it could be found to be the fault.

as much as a rip off as most stealerships are if you replace the valve stem caps on your tires with nice shiney ones they are likely to try and void your warranty. its mainly the people who keep thier mouth shut when a dealership trys to give them the shaft over warranty work. if its a certified gm part and you have it installed by the gm shop there should be no issues with warranty. also yes the biggest benefit everyone tends to like about performance intakes is the extra growl you get from your engine. generally an intake alone wont get you enough power to matter. if your looking for a single item with noticeable gains just get a tune. if you want more after that a typical handheld tuner can revamp your tune with a second tune version or stage to accommodate an actual intake getting you better gains from and intake and possibly other mods. however a tune will definitely generally void your warranty. so keep that in mind for the future when your warranty starts to expire.

I’m still unsure how the intake can void the warranty. This is a gm (Chevrolet) option from their ordering guide. It’s a new FACTORY option. You can add it like you add factory navigation or an rst package during the build of the car

about the only way a factory dealership installed option would void your warranty is if you bought it and installed it yourself. they could come back with you must have installed it wrong. doing your own oil changes or having a non gm garage do them can "void" your warranty. void your warranty isn't really the right word anyway think of it more like if they can tie any kind of failure to something that wasn't done by them. if you do your own oil changes and your engine fails they can come back with you were using the wrong oil or there is no record or proof you actually were doing the oil changes.
