UPDATE on the trans issue:
Pump isn't working. The torque converter must have slipped out just enough to come misaligned and then damaged the pump rotor while we were sliding the motor into place. That would explain the last 1/4" gap between the block and bellhousing that we were having a hard time with. So now I have to tear the trans apart and install a new pump rotor. I might as well upgrade to a 13 vane rotor since I have to replace it anyway. Hopefully someone locally will have the part so I can get my truck going by the end of the week.

Darn, that sucks! Time for the converter upgrade and tranny build? Which converter are you going with? It is going to make a WORLD of difference in performance!!!

FINALLY!!! Damn, I felt like it was never going to get done. My work and family own me during the week. I took off work early today and installed the trans. She started right up and sounded nice. After double checking everything, I took it for a drive around the block. Man, I thought the s/c on the 5.3 was strong, but damn, I'm loving this cammed and blown 6.0 much better. Doesn't take but a quick tap of the pedal to get the tires spinning now
Can't wait to get it re-tuned Sunday. I'll have a follow-up report then.
