Okay so a quick update on the assist step thingie.

The system goes like this. Harness from computer > module, harness from module to power step motor.

Simply disabling the power steps is simple::

- If you just unplug the motor the power steps are disabled and no error codes.

However, to remove the steps completely:

- If you unplug the harness that goes from the comp. to the module from the module he computer spits out a blind zone alert error.

So you say:

- Well just unplug the motor and leave the module behind, problem fixed.

Well ...

- The module that controls the assist step and blind zone alert is attached to the freaking steps and not the body of the truck!!! :whymewhyme:

So in order to remove the power steps from these trucks without getting a code the procedure is as follows:

1. Unplug motor harness
2. Unplug harnesses going in and out of the module.
3. Remove steps from truck
4. Remove module from steps
5. Temporarily attach module to truck frame with 3M and/or zip ties.
6. Reconnect harnesses going in and out of the module.
7. Zip tie harness that goes from module to motor.

Hopefully this info is useful to someone down the road, and they'll know how to remove the power steps and stay error code free.

Oh and I had other things to do so we didn't see it through ... so the steps are still on the truck.

I take that back, I think I like the Corsa looking tip of the Volants. Might have to see what price I can get them for :imo:

Meh it's the same and it's just a tip.

A lot of vendor sites put a compatibility chart when they list the part and never go back to update it ... if only there were a vendor on TYF so super awesome as to double check for me. ;)

Volant is on backorder, still looking into SLP, but in the meantime, I found this gem! Yes, that would be Corsa...
