I am fairly smitten over my new Tahoe Premier (especially after adding a few modifications)….however I have one single complaint that is driving me nuts that I can’t seem to pretend is not there. The auto transmission shift from 1st to 2nd gear is ridiculous. There is a clear pause before 2nd gear catches and while it does not create a “jolt” necessarily myself and my entire family can definitely feel the pause then the shift. I installed a pedal commander to see if it would help (as it did on my previous Ram 2500) and only made it worse if anything (so I turned it off).

Anyone else feel the same? Again not saying it’s a hard shift, it’s more of a momentary pause before it actually shifts which creates a bit of a small jump or lurch forward. I only feel it from 1st to 2nd. Annoyed.

sounds like it might need a tune, if and when one can be done

Try driving differently and see if the 1-2 shift changes. Since first gear is so steep, usually the truck get moving faster than the guy in front and we let up either during that shift or right before so as not to run into him which causes the feeling, at least in mine when I drive it.

Along with the above comment, I have noticed that in a traffic jam the transmission is kind of Herky jerky if you are doing a lot of stop and start in traffic. It tends to want to jolt you when you tap the throttle to move ahead and then when you let off the throttle to slow down it kind of clunks or jerks as it catches a gear to slow down.

Mine shifts the same way. There’s a noticeable delayed pause shifting from 1st to 2nd. Dealer told me it’s normal. It’s strange as I feel it’s worse in my 22’ Denali than my 21’ Denali I traded.

Yep. Same here for my 2022 Yukon Denali. From a full stop, the shift between 1st and 2nd is rough. It doesn’t clunk, but there’s a definite miss/thinking for a second.

Also it blows my mind the admins moved this once again to a sub folder. It’s a general freaking question. Could be transmission, could be something else. So tired of constantly moving posts. Now the post will die and not help anyone else that may be having the same problem. Joke.

this is the correct section, nothing can be done about the shifting until someone is able to tune the tcm or if gm issue's a new calibration file

I'd call it a very minor hesitation but nothing that actually seems like a problem. It's for sure more noticeable if you accelerate slowly (I do 99% of the time) but it's never bothered me. Other than that this 10 speed is butter smooth and you hardly notice it shifting through any of the gears. So much better than the 6 speed that was in our '11 suburban

My seems to be super-smooth and getting better too now that I have 6,300 miles and 2 oil changes on 2021 Yukon SLT. First serious traffic jam yesterday on way to beach and I found it very smooth and easy to deal with in heavy traffic. I'll look for the 1 to 2 transition today as I'm curious but I am very pleased so far. On another note, picking up the boat this week so looking forward to that sitch.

We have a 2022 Denali and I have not noticed anything like this. Shifting seems nice and smooth, so far at least. Only 2k miles so far.

I have the same issue, was hoping it is a learning thing for transmission.

I wonder if there will be a Technical Service Bulletin.....

Your issues just doesn't seem right on a state of the art transmission...
And how much did you guys spend on the GM vehicle !!

Someone should call GM Corporate and make a warranty request !! Don't trust the dealer's response !!
( I have been through this before )
