I'm hoping my diagnosis on this one is correct.

I've got an 07 Yukon with ~86K miles. Headed to work on Friday and my engine light comes on and I notice my oil pressure is down to 0. Interesting part is, no valve clatter and the water temp is remaining at normal operating temp. I get to work and check for leaks and of course the dip stick and all looks good. My first thought is that my oil pressure switch is bad. So, I pick one up one the way home from work and swapped it out this morning. (It's on the passenger side of the oil pan about 2'clock from the drain plug, in case someone is looking for it.) No dice. Still no pressure. The only thing left that I can think of is that there's an issue with the gauge on the cluster. Anyone else experienced something like this?

Engine oil pump most likely crapped out. With only 86k miles, it may be caused by improper oil related maintainance, but you could have just been out of luck also.

had this happen to a few customers trucks but we ended up pulling motor cause of knock. if the dip stick is clean and you have no chatter then gauge is messed up or somewhere wiring is cut.

I can't comment on how well the previous owner took care of general maintenance, but I do know he was **** about fixing any little thing that he perceived was wrong. Working on the assumption that he changed oil regularly, I'll assume that the pump is OK. We'll see.

There's no knocking or any other indication that the oil isn't circulating, so I'm leaning toward the wiring or gauge issue. The dealership has it now, so we'll see.

Definitely let us know the diagnosis.

Verdict is in. It wasn't the cluster. Apparently there is another pressure switch on the top of the motor next to the firewall that requires pulling the intake to get to it. That one went bad. No damage to the engine. Whew!
