I own a 2001 Chevy Tahoe with over 350k miles on the same engine! I have replaced the Transmission twice! I wanted to ask the question in the chat but don't know how to. Maybe you can answer this 1 question. The mechanic says to use a heavier weighted oil because it burns it up quickly and I am get engine pressure is low to where the vehicle stops accelerating. Will 10w40 hurt the engine?

Couple old school ways to check on the condition of your engine: Does it knock or rattle on cold startup? Are you seeing or smelling any oil smoke? Does it consume any unusual amount of oil? Reduced oil pressure? Pull out the PCV valve and look for smoking when hot. The reduced acceleration might be due to the cat. converter getting plugged up. I'd probably go with an oil change with Rotella 15w40 oil myself, and change it at 3000 miles or so.
