Details on the build:

Details on build. Well I have finally completed the new engine for Judi’s Tahoe. It’s a .030” over LQ9 (370ci) with Mahle forged flat tops on Gen 4 rods with ARP Bolts. The Cam is from Cammotion with 220/234 duration at .050” and .585 lift (smallest PD Supercharger specific grind) using HyLift Johnson LS7 lifters and Smith Brothers 7.425” .080” wall pushrods. The heads are TSP ported 317 castings with PAC 1219 Beehives and Ferrara stainless valves using REM polished OEM rockers with the solid bushing upgrade. With the Kooks 1 7/8” Longtube headers, this 10.1 long block should make about 500hp NA. I may have to dial the Magnason TVS1900 down a bit from the 12psi it is set up for on the stock 5.3. No need to be crazy. I built this as a 200,000 mile replacement engine for Judi’s Tahoe, so almost zero used parts were reused. Don’t let anyone tell you building an LS engine is any less expensive than any other. Unless you want to use a bunch of used or junk Chinese parts.

Sounds like a great build. Pretty sure @Geotrash had some kind of issue with Johnson lifters. Post up some pics of the wife's ride.

Thanks Tony! It's a beautiful engine he's got there. Love the components and that thing will fly.

Actually it was @ls1frc that had the Johnson lifter issues, but I haven't seen him around here in a while. Hope he's okay. To be specific, the Johnsons gave him lower oil pressure and more valvetrain noise - mostly due to being really slow to pump up when cold. This after he'd taken great pains to get the pushrod length and preload right in the first place. He got frustrated, yanked them out, and went back in with Morel 7717's a few months ago, and AFAIK hasn't had any problems since.

I see where I put this in the wrong section. Opps. I would delete this if I knew how.
