Absolutely nothing of use
Sadly, here in NY the VIN is out in the open for all to see.
I think he is referring to our registration stickers that have the vin on them but not sure he knows that every single car on the road has a vin plate in the lower left corner of the windshield…..What do you mean?

I see said the blind-er, non new york-man.I think he is referring to our registration stickers that have the vin on them but not sure he knows that every single car on the road has a vin plate in the lower left corner of the windshield…..![]()

I should have been clearer. Not everyone lives in NY! Yeah our registration sticker in the lower corner of the windshield has the VIN in plain sightWhat do you mean?
Dude,Been happening for a long time. Thieves have the same equipment the dealers use to program new keys. Been a big thing with hellcats as they are the #1 stolen vehicle.

Dodge muscle cars once again top HLDI’s list of most-stolen vehicles
The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Charger HEMI top HLDI’s list of the most-stolen vehicles for model years 2020-22. Four Kia vehicles make the top 20, thanks to a viral trend.www.iihs.org
It’s gotten so bad for Dodge that in 2022 and 2023 they locked out the computers from making new keys. If you lose the originals you have to buy a new RF hub. Even the dealer can’t make new keys.
I have 3 keys programmed for my hellcat; since the computer is locked of if I lose them I’d have to replace the computer in the car. However thief’s are now unable to make a key using dealer tools to steal the car.
I don’t daily my hellcat because of this. I actually have been followed once and had to pull into a police station. Crazy.
Dude,
You Serious? I recently thought about how nice it would be to have a Durango SRT 392.. Prices are sort of coming down.
NOT QUITE the Hellcat but nice enough for me. I didnt know that they were a "hot car" to have. I might have to rethink this.
My old boss drove his Charger Hellcat Redeye (widebody, sublime green, 1 of 2) to work once, to show us. He would only do it once because he was nervous about it.Been happening for a long time. Yes, it's for real. Charger and Challenger have been kings for 5ish years...of the top stolen list.Dude,

Yes they had that initially and then stopped offering that software update. They had issues with that software update for some reason. Now they just lock out new keys from being made which I feel is a much better security option since that’s 90% of the way these cars are taken. My old boss drove his Charger Hellcat Redeye (widebody, sublime green, 1 of 2) to work once, to show us. They (Dodge) also came out with a PIN feature that, if you don't input the correct pin, the vehicle will only go 15 mph or something. Idk if the thieves have figured out a way around that yet.
Thanks for the reply! this is unbelievable!392 not much of targets. Thieves want the hellcats because they can make a quick 30k parting out just the engine and trans.
My local dealer had one stolen off their lot. They now keep all hellcats inside at all times.
Lots of crazy videos. Here’s one of 6 hellcats stolen at once.

I've used it several times while shopping for used vehicles on Facebook and the owner won't share the VIN (they think it is like social security !!)
I remember, back in the day, we had steering wheel locks in the column / ignition switch enabled…..Neighbors truck is back ... the collision shop did a great job to fix all the scuffs on the paint, clear coat, interiors.
Apparently the truck was stolen and used to rob a house
They have the IGLA immobilizer installed now, apparently in a "secret location"... I saw it in action. The truck needs to be started, and a unique key combination on the steering wheel before going into drive. If the vehicle is put into drive without the unique key press operation, the engine would be killed immediately.
My pop had a 73 Monte Carlo with a kill switch.I remember, back in the day, we had steering wheel locks in the column / ignition switch enabled…..
Any word if they caught the lowlifes?Neighbors truck is back ... the collision shop did a great job to fix all the scuffs on the paint, clear coat, interiors.
