Make my 5.3 sound like a 6.2. HELP.

And well I'm pretty sure the flange size above the cats is the same but if you could check for me when you the car that would be fantastic!

I took a rough measurement with a flashlight while burning my hand! From one manifold stud to the other (There was 3 total, all the same distance apart) was about 4in.ish on center. I don't have the 5.3 to compare to.

Yeah, they are the same. They even use the same seal on the 5.3 and 6.2

Go out there and measure yours to see if they compare to his. You should find the same thing on your 5.3.

Let me know if you want it cleaned up Hopefully you got your answer along the way. The cheapest route to go is muffler choice and just replacing the muffler.

I am only looking at mufflers, not catbacks. Just sooo torn between a Magnaflow and the GMPP Borla. I can't determine which would be quieter.

A Oval 5x8 24 Inch or a 7.75 ROUND 24 inch. Also, no drone is a must.

Okay so what is the reasoning behind this?

Some threads out there are saying the oval Magnaflow's are quieter due to the lazy "S" design of the pipe inside the muffler. This also is said to cause more backpressure.

The round would be more "straight through"..... and would seem ilike it would be louder.

Is it due to the amount of packing of the 7.75 Borla round?

It's tempting..........The only problem being I don't want to drop almost a grand on the Corsa. PLUS I already have SLP Tips that kinda go to waste then.

This is why I will weld in whichever this thread tells me is quieter out of the two (ROUND BORLA vs. OVAL Offest Magnaflow),

and someone please explain the sound difference.

(Oh and I didn't get a chance to chime in last night, but I did read the thread off my Android. For the record I have NO problems with anyone here. I love all you guys.)
