I was reading a post over at gmfs that said gm started putting the LQ9 in the Denali in '05. Anyone know if this is true?

What LQ9? I would guess a newer model motor

It's the high-output version of the Denali motor. It has 345hp/380lb/ft vs 325hp/365lbft. Standard in
02-06 Escalade, 03-06 Silverado SS, 05-07 Sierra Denali.

much better heads also. just get the heads from gm for $600 and put them on an lq4 with a nice cam and it will be a beast.

then what are the heads that are on the newest truck motor? they can be bought for $600 at the deal and flow well over 300 without even cleaning them up. is it the 6.2 head?

i helped my boss install them on the 6.0 he just built for his malibu. i forget the cast number. he went carb since he is old school. but i must say its a bad *****.

the 6.2 l92 heads are a great upgrade but you have to get the intake and the rocker arms can be pricey if you do not get them with the heads. They can only be used on a 6.0 or a ls motor with atleast a 4.0 in bore

I've been reading on ls1tech that a lot of F-body guys are going with the lq4 and l92 heads and making gobs of power both boosted and n/a. If I was going to spend the money to do a cam and head swap I'd get the stg2 l92 heads and cam combo off texas-speed. $2k for the heads, cam of your choice, valve springs, and push rods. All you'd have left to do is the tune.

Some escalade's are 5.3 2WD, wasn't sure if you were aware of that.
