Pretty sure your '05 turns them on the same way my '02 does, it's an option in your Driver Information Center (DIC) that you need to turn on, its the little display in your center console that tells you the gas mileage and distance, just scroll through the options and you are bound to find it!!

Were you checking the lights when you were opening a door? Might want to put a voltmeter on one of the sockets and then open the door and see what ya got!

Did you check ALL of your fuses? Every single one? If not, I'd be doing that, alot of times circuit piggy back off of other circuits without them being noted!! There are a few panels in our trucks, I'd check them all!!

Also, I know you pulled the bulbs and they looked fine but did you try to use them anywhere else to confirm that they are still good or at least ohm them? Just throwing some ideas out there for ya!!

Welcome Justin.... Chris just about covered the bases. Ive ran through alot of problems like that on my buddies trucks where stuff wasnt noted and a non obvious fuse was blown.

Exactly, that's why I mentioned that, that has happened to me a few times with other problems!! Now I check them first everytime I have a problem!!

On my 01, they only come on when I unlock the doors/disarm the alarm. They don't come on if I open the door, only when disarming/unlocking, and they stay on for about a minute.

I forgot to add that they only stay on temporarily- like Scottyboy said- mine stay on for about 30 seconds. So , when you test the voltage, make sure it's right after you open the door. I've seen bulbs that look good but actually are bad so if you want, you can test them with your dome lights. They are the same bulbs. Also, if you don't get any voltage at the light, check inside the door panel. I believe the lights plug into the wire bundle in the door. Might be a loose connection.

thanks guys!
i got a hold of my buddy that is a tech at gmc and he pulled a bulletin for the puddle lights, and it said that the owners Manuel does not clearly state how they work. so it has to be dark outside, and in vehicle settings the perimeter lights has to be on, the the lights delay has to be on and set to any time!

so they work but only when its dark haha! well i highly appreciate your help and thanks! :grd:

I thought they only had to work when it's dark out at first yesterday when I originally wrote my response but went out right after and checked mine out and mine light up in the daytime as well so I came in and changed my response!! But to be sure that yours works like that, take a dome light bulb that works like already mentioned and tonight pop it into on of the puddles and open your door!! Like also mentioned, it should power on for around 30 seconds so if you don't get light out of it, pull out your voltmeter and then open the door again!
Keep us posted!

You guys are saying they should come on when you open the door. If they do, that may only be on the 03-06 models. I can tell you for a fact that the ONLY time that mine come on is upon unlocking the doors/disarming the alarm with the remote. It should also do the same if unlocking the drivers door with a key, because unlocking the driveres door sends a trigger to the BCM to disarm the factory alarm.

I'm saying that my '02 denali puddle light come on when I open the door, just went out there to confirm my confirmation from earlier and indeed they do!! If I have the dome override switched pushed to keep the interior lights from coming on then the puddles don't come on with the door open but if the interior lights come on with opening the door, then my puddle lights come on with them!
