Black widow isn't chambered. Its shaped as an hourglass internally. That's where it gets the distinct sound from. I'm about to order my black widow exhaust but I'm confused about the fitment. Anyone have any idea what those canisters are on the exhaust right before the muffler? It doesn't have a heat shield on them. I'm about to just cut all that shit out I think.

They don't have a heat shield though.....maybe they are the cats.....weird they aren't contained with a heat shield. Have you done your exhaust yet?

I don't think any of our trucks have shields on the cats. My truck is going for the swap around the 2nd week in January. Hopefully I'll be giving updates on how it's coming along.

I have a stainless works chambered exhaust muffler on mine. Got it from summit and it sounds awesome. Nice deep sound with out drone.

I have a 2002 Yukon Denali and I'm wanting a muffler for it I want to keep the stock tailpipe. I see the exhaust is weird on these truck I just don't know if a good way to install a muffler without hacking it up I want it to be clean not rigged up but I don't want to spend the million dollars on a cat back lol

With cats, a dynomax bullet is the way to go. With headers, you better put a little more muffler on it cause it gets too loud.

I feel the exact same way. I also want to keep my stock tailpipe. I just bought an MBRP muffler from a forum member. Gonna go in when my swap gets done. View attachment 70688 View attachment 70689I'm doing long tubes so I'm guessing it's going to be loud!

Coulda saved yourself some money and just bought a Summit branded bullet, basically the same thing.

I guess it is the cats. They look strange on these trucks. I ended up buying the Black Widow Venom 250 muffler and the y pipe they have as well. Hopefully it Isn't too much of a pain for the place to install.

I wanted the corsa too, but it costs way too much. You have to get the whole cat back system with corsa. I went with Black Widow cause it sounds pretty similar to the corsa and has zero drone from what everyone says. Plus you can buy just the muffler.

I'm gonna do the corsa sport, no sense in worrying about saving 100$ or 200$ dollars for something that will last the rest of the truck's life. I'd rather pay for it all up front.

I do have a question as far as headers are concerned. Long Tube = HP and sound, and Short = Torque... so in a 3ton truck, why would you not want torque?

if you don't have to replace everything, this makes more sense, but my entire exhaust is going to be replaced anyways.

Shorty headers don't offer much on our LS based motors over stock manifolds. That's why you don't really hear of people who have them. Long tubes with a free flowing exhaust and tune can add around 45 horsepower. Which in my opinion is pretty good on a gas burner.

On another note, if you are planning long tubes, catless Y, and corsa sport, be prepared for s loud truck. It will sound great with the corsa, but be loud. May want to consider the corsa touring if doing long tubes.

I've also heard that the longtubes increase sound a lot. Enough to have the neighbors on you about it lol. 45 horses is a lot and definitely something you will feel! Is there a reason to delete the cats? I mean wouldn't that be a problem getting inspection?

It won't be catless, because I don't want to have to redo it if I have to move to a state with inspections.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't seen any numbers, so I didn't know why exactly.

Yes, if you live in a place with inspections I would imagine it would cause a problem. I live where we don't have inspections, so I'm not sure exactly what they check for.

No problem! There are sets of long tubes with cats, just cost a bit more. Or you can buy a set of budget long tubes from speed engineering or Texas speed and have a set of cats installed on them like @Tonyrodz is doing.

scared the hell out of some people while out Christmas shopping tonight when i started my truck. Longtubes do add some sound....even the shop that did my exhaust tips were surprised I had a magnaflow...that being said my neighbor said "its just loud enough". ..as long as I don't gas it hard going thru the neighborhood its not obnoxious. I try to not be an ass while at home at least and am glad i have high flow cats...corsa sport and longtubes will be loud..i've considered a touring muffler to quiet mine down some..add cam and stall and guys will try you in traffic lol..

For those of you who have ordered their Black Widow muffler, how long did it take for you to get it? I ordered on 12/28/16 finally got a FedEx tracking number on 1/6/17 and today it still hasn't been updated past "shipping label created". I'm so frustrated almost to the point of having my bank cancel the charge. This is ridiculous. Anyone deal with similar issues ordering from Black Widow?

I have not ordered from them.

I'm in the wholesale/consumer goods business and can tell you that things often get very backed up for all parties during the holidays. Give them a call or send them a message before doing anything too hasty---there might be a very good explanation, up to and including a tracking # mix-up.
