LED tails with all LEDs as brake lights

Hi ghostworks,

LPG would be nice here as well but the refueling infrastructure just doesn't exist, nor do I see it in the near future. It's localized and patch-worked at best with only local and federal government having access here in this area.

When you get your lamps could you please let me know if the backside is removable allowing access to the LED modules?

Already prepared my soldering iron I guess I can always try to measure how much power goes through the circuit with the OEM lights and see if I can discover the difference and solder in some resistors that make up the difference.

Ghost, HIDGUYS has agreed to send out resistor kits to customers who purchased these lights and are having the cruise control problem. The kit includes 1 resistor (for driver's side light) and solderless connectors. They emailed me an instruction sheet for the resister install and if you want, I can send it to you later today when I get home...or you can email them and I'm sure they'll email it to you as well.

Do you know if this will also fix the issue with the speed of the flashing? When I looked at your video it flashed very fast

All my comm's have been throught that email ([email protected]). I don't know if it will have any effect on the blinking speed but my uneducated guess is that it won't. It would seem to me that the blink speed is set by the vehicle's turn signal control module and that these LEDs are flashing faster due to going through an off...dim...bright sequence instead of just off...on as with the factory bulbs. But I guess I will see soon enough...

So I finally got my lights in the mail, just installed them and they look awesome! I am very pleased with the new look it gave my truck.

When I looked at Jem's video the flashing looks somewhat faster than what I experience mine to be. Might be a difference between the 01 and the 03.

I didn't try but it looks like you can open the light from the back, to access the LED modules.

When I looked at the blinking sequence mine seemed to go from dim - on - bright, as in it don't look like its ever completely off, I'll have to have a second look when it gets darker outside.

Very happy with the extremely bright back up lights! I was not too happy with the OEM. I also think they look very cool when normally lit!

I'll take it out for a spin a little later to see if I have the same issue with the cruise control. Fingers crossed

Did your new tails have LED backup lights? The ones I got use the OEM backup bulb...although I had already switched to high intensity bulbs very soon after buying the Tahoe and having trouble seeing to backup at night with the factory bulbs...

All stock, I might look into getting some high intensity bulbs, I'm happy with the new amount of lights, but I will always welcome more!

I might have to research LED 3rd brake light too now, to match the look and feel

As I understand it, both jem556 and ghostworks you have the red tail-lights and absrastic has the smoked tail-lights. If y'all have a shot of these lights in both colors from the rear in the daylight, it will help me decide which I'll order for my black hoe.

jem556 I'm curious as to what Hidguy's solution was concerning the resistor. In both previous cases where additional lights were added to the circuit, both instances were with the additional lamps in parallel (trailer lights, and additional brake lights under frame). If he recommends putting the resistor in series then you are creating a voltage divider circuit and the intensity of the LED bulbs will be dimmer. I suspect that his solution will be to put the resistor in parallel. Please advise and what size resistor.

Correct, I have the red ones. It's night time here now, but I'll post a picture tomorrow morning, if you ask me they look really good I have the same sequence as Jem when I looked closer, off - dim - bright, I don't mind, but if its an easy fix to change I'd like to either drop the dim or off state. I'll try to investigate if this is possible to change.

As for the quick fix, I think its just a resistor pack that you plug in between the brake light and the harness on the driver side.

Did he tell you the size of the resistor?

They didn't indicate the size resistor but it should be here tomorrow...maybe it will be marked and I can tell then.

Looks like a 10 ohm, 25 watt resistor, I think. And, yes, they do get very hot.
