Well, major bummer with these new LED tails. I got out on the open highway for the first time since their installation and found that they have disabled my cruise control. I purchased these because they included the resistor packs to supposedly prevent such issues...but alas, no such luck. Back to OEM we go... :(

There's a thread somewhere on here where some people had the same problem with losing their cruise control because of led tails. Not sure if these are the same tails or not. That sucks man.

Sucks indeed... I actually read through the thread you are referring to before making the purchase and chose these in part because they had a resistor pack incorporated in the light. Unfortunately, the resistors in the tails I got are either defective or insufficient to prevent the problem.

I talked with the HIDGUY's and to their credit, they are going to try to help me sort it out.

On a positive note, I finally had time today to mount the new LTZ's and tires...changes the whole look of the vehicle!

If it's an insufficient resistance issue, I wonder if you could install a small load resistor, maybe 25 watt, to fix that problem. Just a thought. It's very cool that the seller is willing to help after the sale.
I know what you mean about the wheels. When I bought mine I was so stoked about the new look. Post some pics of your rig, maybe before and after.:waytogo:

That's what HIDGUY is thinking also...they are going to send me some resistors to try. If the sun peeks out tomorrow, I'm going to take some pics. But in the meantime, just imagine yours if it was green. :Big Laugh:

Crap! Hopefully I won't have the same issue, its taken me over a month to get the damn lights, hopefully they will be just as helpful towards me, but I guess that means another month of waiting on new resistors.

Ghost, you will probably be ok...according to the HIDGUY's, this is a rare problem with this model of tails. It is just the kind of luck I am used to...

I have the same issue with the lights I got from HIDGUY. They said they would find a fix for it 8 months ago and let me know but still haven't heard from them. Every time I call I get the same run around. They even sent me resistors free of charge for me to figure it out but I don't know what the hell I am doing. So I am waiting on someone else to figure the issue out and then I'll fix mine to have cruise control again.

Hope you have better luck than me.

Hi Abstrastic,

I went back and viewed your video while pausing it several times. I noticed that your lights were in three different modes; off, on dim, and on bright. This looks like you had the flashers on with the running/parking lamps off. Was this the case? What sequence do they go through when a turn signal is activated?

TIA

yes I had the flashers on.

Oh...oh...that don't sound good... :whymewhyme:
Did you ever discuss returning for refund or exchange with HIDGUY?

I sent my first pair of lights back because I thought they were bad plus I had water finding it's way in the lights. After I got the second set is when they said they would find a fix and also sent me the resistors.

Gotta love the forums, I had instant response selected and there is two pages of posts in the last 5 days and not a peep from the automatic notification.

Bummer about the cruise control, from what I've read you need a resistor across the turn signal leads to slow the blink rate down to normal on these LED turns and another resistor across the brake light leads to keep the cruise control enabled. This is necessary because there are separate circuits for turn and brake. Over the years I've learned that even the dealerships don't fully understand the vehicles they sell so I don't expect an aftermarket product seller to fair any better. I wonder if they realize that the turns and brake lights are isolated separate circuits?

Jem556 I noticed that your lights flashed in the same sequence as Abstrastic's, Off, Dim, then Bright. Not crazy about that sequence and the loss of intensity when viewed from the side.

I guess I'll have to look farther.

You got any reference for this? I might as well start reading up on what I need to do to get it working :)

This was happening to me on another forum and I discovered that all the notifications were going straight to my gmail spam folder. Something you might check...

I definitely think you can find a better tail solution than these, btw.

So is there a diagram anywhere showing which wires to tap into to fix the crusie control and how to wire the resistors?

Ghostworks, read this thread.

http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=178&highlight=cruise+problems

I worked in Sundsval Sweden and Imatra Finland back in the mid seventies. I remember that gas prices were outrageous then, my company would only let me rent Volkswagen Beetles. Do you need an armed ****** to buy gas now in Scandinavia?

Prices are actually not that bad if you compare them to the local salary level to be honest, I guess its only slightly higher than the US.

But I've converted my car to run on LPG which reduces my cost with about 1/3.

I'll read up on that post and see if I can make any sense of it. After waiting for over a month on these lights I'm not giving up that easily :)
