I have seen these before, they are pretty cool. I was just curious if the newer trucks actually had the Chevrolet font from the factory or if this was something aftermarket that the owner of that Burb in the JY had installed.

I am getting ready to replace my Cold Case Radiator for the second time under warranty. This will be the 3rd Radiator since installing the original back in Jan. 2021.

The first one ended up getting a crack in some of the welds and leaked from there.

This one appears to be leaking from where the fins/tubes meet the end tank.

It isn't a huge leak but it is enough that I need to top off the coolant about once a week.

I added UV dye to the system to locate the leak and this is what I found...

Sent Cold Case the pics and they shipped out the replacement. I had to pay for shipping, which was around $95.

At this point I'm not sure if I should keep getting a replacement every couple of years at the cost of shipping or if I would be better off just biting the bullet and buying a stock radiator.

These are really nice all aluminum radiators with thick cores and large tubes so they cool exceptional well, they just don't seem to hold up long term.

I'm not even sure if there are any radiator shops around here anymore.

It being all aluminum, I'm not sure if it could be brazed/sweated like an old Brass radiator or not.

I should probably do some research since that is the only issue with it and I don't have to return the old one.

The last one I gave to my brother, he was going to see about getting it repaired and using it in his K5 Blazer that he LS swapped. It is still sitting in his shop collecting dust. He works out of town and is always gone so no time to mess with it I guess.

Does the old one have to be shipped back, or can you keep it? If you get to keep it, there's no harm in trying to repair it. You could keep it as a spare or sell it.

They let you keep them.

As mentioned, I gave the last one.to my brother but he hasn't had time to see about getting it repaired.

Pulled and replaced rear axle seals, bearings and reluctor/ABS rings, and parking brake shoes on the Burb as preventative maintenance. Also adjusted the parking brake shoes which made a world of difference in how it holds.

I kept having an intermittent ABS light that pops up when taking a turn sometimes. The code showed left rear ABS speed sensor, it was replaced and code still pops up and ABS light when making turns.

Decided at 350k miles it wouldn't hurt to just replace it all. Turns out it was probably all for nought except for replacing that reluctor ring because the axle seals weren't leaking and the bearings and axles looked great.

Oh well, peace of mind I guess.

Also replaced the roller pins and bushings on the two front doors with the Cunningham Machine roller pins.

Even with buying the tool they sell to compress the hinge springs they were a bear to replace. The tool is simply too big to fit in there, even with removing a couple bolts from the hinges.

Ended up removing and replacing the springs with a couple flat head screw drivers and used the spring compressor tool once they were out to compress the springs some and put zip ties through them to hold them in compression a little for reinstallation.

No pics of the boring stuff... lol

Both of my Denali’s have factory sill plates that say Denali in that same font. Perhaps it was part of a trim package like LTZ on the Chevy’s?

That is why I think it may be year specific as my 2008 is an LTZ but didn't come with these, and these were removed from a 2011 I believe.

Just getting some last minute preventative maintenance out of the way before a BIG trip planned for the family at the end of the year. Will end up being 6k-7k miles round trip when all is said and done.

FL to Grand Canyon > Monument Valley > scenic route to Cedar City, UT. > Grand staircase Escalante > Moab, UT. > Boulder, CO. Which will be home base for about 5 days while we go on day trips to Rocky Mountain NP, WY, Colorado Springs to ride the Cog train to the top of Pikes Peak and then do Garden of the Gods, etc. > St. Louis and back to FL. Plus all the site seeing miles.

Should be an awesome trip. I just pray the weather is decent.

The good thing about going this time of the year is there won't be a ton of tourists since it is the off season, and none of us will have to miss work to do it. Even my oldest son (19yo) will have graduated from his EMT/Fire fighter school by then so he can go with us.

The bad thing about going during the winter is that I know some of the scenic roads will be closed for the season, but such is life I suppose.

This is an awesome road trip. Done many of these location myself, and some are still on the to-do list. Saw a stunning shot of Monument Valley on Weather Channel the other day and car park was empty and the road with wide open to drive in. It will be amazing! Love that NP! And Wyoming...yesssss!

I love onion rings, onions in general actually. Every year for the past several years my son and I go to the mini truck nationals in NC and on the way home I stop in Vidalia, GA. and buy 100+ lbs of sweet Vidalia onions because the truck show is usually around the same time as the Vidalia onion festival.

This year we didn't make it to the truck show because my son was in EMT school during that time, so I ordered and had 160lbs shipped to my door.

They lasted my family about 4 months. We put onions in everything... lol

The bad thing is we will be traveling on Christmas day and stay in Cedar City Christmas night, I kind of doubt any restaurants will be open, which sucks.

I would love to go to the mini truck nationals. Me and the wife were old school mini truckers, Back in the day. And yes, It sounds like you love onions.
