Is there a sticky on HID or High Intensity Discharge for 2015 on?

Struggling to search and find a decent writeup on HID kits etc on the forum due to the "HID" falling under the minimum allowable search character amount. A sticky would be helpful as the stock LT and LS halogens are simply too weak. And there are a lot of budget HID kits out there that are liklely junk.

Also - I just want OEM HID color and lumens. So from what I can tell that is 4300K and???

Hello, i will give you my own opinion about getting the best hids because i have them in my car and i can tell you these guys have the best lights , they do not flicker, there is no error message either like other hids, these ones are plug and play there is no modification needed with these lights and another good thing (NO GLARE) no more glare like what other people have with cheap quality hids. I got mines from www.vanquishauto.com I will suggest anyway that is really looking to buy the best lights for their cars to contact them.

They recommend HIDs for LOW BEAMS and LED for HIGH BEAMS & FOG LIGHTS.

not if you go with OEM type ballast and bulb...regardless of the ballast bulb type, the projectors are still not True HID projectors. They will appear as oem and be a HUGE upgrade, but they still won't be identical to oem just because they are HID.

I am running a quality ballast with Philips 85122 4300K (oem for many cars) bulbs in our SLT and it's about as close to oem as it gets without swapping out housings with denali version projectors.

By projectors do you mean the actual housings? And if so are the housings that much different from halogen to HID?

correct. I don't know the actual detailed differences...different bowl shapes, cutoff, light pattern, etc. so yes the projector itself distribute the light differently. One is designed for a halogen bulb. Is it worth it to upgrade housings, definitely not, but there is a difference.

I am happy with my OEM 4300k Bulbs in the halogen projectors.

My 2015 LS had the halogen bulbs,not good.Tried LAD bulbs better but not really. Finally bought 35 watt ,5000k HID kit ,man what a difference.They have a very defined cutoff and light up the road way just like my old 2000 Tahoe LT. lots of light and no glare.Usable vision on a dark back road is excellent, there has not been one person to flash me or complain of glare or adjusted too high. They are set to factory height specs . and it is finally nice to drive at night in all weather.

2. Does the light set up meet state and federal standards - especially if you do not change the light housings? (Virginia inspection includes a headlight measurement check as well as verification that lights are DOT approved).
3. How would an HID upgrade impact the intelli-beam feature?

I'm in florida but,

1. Warranty policies change. I don't know about a manufacturer that would take it away from changing a light bulb. I had a lemon once and they had to buy the vehicle back from me, including the lights I put on it. I do see some manufacturers like KIA talking about putting hid conversion kits on their vehicle's owners manuals and warning them about possible radio malfunctions. ( HIDs are not standard, you need a qualified or overqualified kit designed to work with your vehicle and definitely avoid knockoff kits you would find anywhere on ebay for $28.95 etc, same thing avoid kits that are not designed for your particular vehicle.

2. The headlamps needs to be DOT, which they are. hid conversion are illegal and what really makes them illegal is the color option the person picks. In the past few years, most people would buy really crazy colors like pink, purple or the darkest blue they could find, of course this is going to get you the wrong kind of attention on the road. We always suggest 4300k to 6000K, note our 6k is like 10k in the knockoff kits because they are barely putting down any power ( they claim 35W), maybe 15w at the most. Factory hid or true hid is 35W and the beam of the hid bulb must be a corrected one in order to give the right cutoff line and the most light output. You know it's right when the cutoff line is sharper that what it used to be, high quality hids would achieve this.

3. It will not affect it, intellibeam only activates the high beams when there is no presence of tail lights of vehicles ahead of you or headlights from oncoming vehicles.

We suggest always to get hids for the projector low beam headlights since we have tried leds and hids in your projector headlights and hids gives you a way better light output than the leds., We also had a customer a week ago that came to the shop to install some leds they got somewhere else and we can tell you thats not what you would like to get, leds will not give you enough light output, in fact the hids we use are totally error free, no error message, no glare like some leds gives, these are tested in your car and they work perfect, all customers happy and will definitely like you try them and see the difference!
