How to do the 4 or 6 high mod on an 03-06 full size truck for $3.00

Hey guys just a heads up, some states have a law stating you can only have 4 forward facing lights on at a time. So just a heads up. Here in Texas thats the case.

ok, pretty sure I've got my head wrapped around all this.
i would like my lows, fogs and DRL to kick on when my highs are on, and all still function as factory when my highs are off. so I would need to run 3 diodes
bottom right of high relay to bottom right of low relay
bottom right of high relay to top left of fog relay and
bottom right of high relay to (??which prong for the DRL relay??)
and that would get me what I'm wanting, correct?

Can't wait to do 8HI with BiXenon HID retro in the lows...

Throws a good amount of light now.

Well i did this mod with a small difference, i didn't want the 6 high mod, since it MAY be technically illegal for all 6 to be on (it's debatable some states, some def not legal). i put diodes from the highs and lows to the fogs, so the fogs come on automatically if EITHER the highs or lows or on. i can still turn the fogs on with just parking lights by pushing the button, and they come on anytime any headlights are on. obviously i can't turn them off with highs or lows, that's what i wanted. just tired of pushing the button lol. btw i also used the 3A 50V diodes from Radio Shack for $1.99

Did the 4 high mod on my 04 Yukon SLT and love it. Ordered the diodes off EBay. I have Kensun 6000k HID lows and halogen highs. I do a lot of rural driving and it was a problem when switching from highs back to my lows. It's dangerous driving driving while waiting for the HID's to warm back up after switching down from highs.

I too just completed this mod. Buck 99 at Radio Shack (that place has turned into a crap hole)
I did the 6 high. I am rocking all stock bulbs right now. Will upgrade over time.

As I sit and relax in the AC (its hot in San Diego today!) I can't help but wonder who the hell figured this mod out?? Someone that works for GM? Who figured out what diode and where to put it??

I bought the diodes to do the mod, but I want to do something I have not seen mentioned... I want my parking lights on anytime my truck is running. I would also like my DRL on anytime the truck is running. What do I need to jump with the diode to make that happen?

Seems like you could just wire the parking and DRL together. If you put the diode in, it would only work one way or the other. Not both.

YI converted my DRLS to Amber running lights and covered my photo cell, on top of the full time fog mod. Now I have full time, full auto: Lows, Running lights (w/Amber DRLs), Projectors, and Halos (w/leds) that I wired to the running lights and blinkers, so they blink as well. I can still control my lighting: Full time, full auto with "Off", "Parking only", Parking w/ Fogs", and the 8 - Hi mod (if you count the DRLs).

I converted my DRL to amber too, but I want them on when my parking lights are on, or if I don't turn on the parking lights to function 'normal'.
Can you explain to me how to make that happen?

Why make DRL's amber? DRL's don't output a whole lot of light vs low beams anyways so why remove the functionality of DRL's to have them on all the time?

Cause I like the look of the DRL being amber and on with parking lights, all the time... unless it is dark and my headlights are on, then I want the DRL off...

looks like the first mod, aside from the trailer brake install. I have the harness, but it won't fit where it says it goes. And the controller doesn't work. Which may be from the accident. If it got wet, I'm sure it's junk.

Love this thread. Just did this mod, and went for 8 hi mod. Except, I ran DRLs to the low beam relay so they’re on all the time except park. I might try to add the parking lights, basically same thing run a diode from the parking light relay to the drl relay. Use the same spot 85 to 85. Low beam is on when hi is on, so everything attached to the low beam will be on in both hi and low. Drl is on when in gear, so parking lights attached will be on under same conditions as Drl. I do recommend using a 1 amp diode as the 3 amp are a little beefy and make it tough getting some of these relays in. Radio shack has a variety pack with 1 amp and 3 amp diodes.
