Ok trying to figure on Economy by the tank. My wife's 2002 2 wheel drive Tahoe with a 5.3L stock, engine trans and rear end. Is getting about 220 miles to a tank full. It's has an AFE CAI in sealed box, free flow cats and a flow master super 50 series muffler, new MSD wires NKG Plugs new fuel filter, AIms oil and trans fluid and royal purple rear diff fluid. It has 20" wheels with 275X55R20's tires. We both average about 75 - 85 mph highway and 45-55 mph city. It's is not jack rabbit started.

What are y'all getting to the tank full?

220?? Thats it?? My 03 Denali easily got 375 to the tank with around Houston driving. My 07 Tahoe gets about the same - 320-360 miles to the tank.
220 sounds very low!

I believe it's 24 but it might be 26 gallons.

If it is a 26 gallon tank, then 220 is way too low, especially for a Two Wheel Drive.

With my All - Wheel Drive and no mods other than a K&N Filter and Magnaflow Exhaust, I get AT THE VERY LEAST 12 miles to the gallon, so 26 x 12 should get you at LEAST 312 miles to the Tank.

Also to note - the Denali I had was AWD with 22's. The most I got at one point was driving straight highway at 420 miles to the tank. I have the same general accessories as you do too - intake, exhaust and tune for 87

Your mileage per tank does seem very low. My wife and I average about 15mpg together. She is the primary driver of the Tahoe. It is a 2003, 5.3l with 150K on the clock. We easily get over 320 miles per tank and sometimes more depending on whether we are highway driving. The biggest factor is the speed. 75-85 mph will suck up the gas quick! These trucks have the aerodynamics of a barn and are not geard for top end speed! Reduce your highway speeds and you should see an increase.

Very low for sure for a 26 gal tank! Make sure tires are fully inflated and might have to start thinking about a tune up (seafoam intake, clean MAF, clean filter, plugs and/or wires, etc.)!

Tires are properly inflated, balanced, and newer pugs, and wires,

Driving habits play a huge part in the MpG department. Small changes can yield 2mpg a tank eliminating bad habbits

It almost never goes above 2100-2200 RMPs when I drive my fully modded 2001 Tahoe with 4.10 rear gears, a 4L80 trans fully built and a 2800-3200 stall converter , and a built 6.0L with heads and cam gets better MPG and I only have a 20 gallon tank and have to run premium pump gas. I don't get it. My RMPs in my Tahoe are like 1550 RPMs at 30 MPH. And my 2001 Tahoe does better then my wife's. he'll my buddies 2009 ford F-150 4X4 with a lift and 20's with 37X13.50R20's and stock gears gets 14-16 in town WTF!

I have a 2001 Suburban LT. I use the fuel log app for android to track my mileage, etc. My last tank I average 13.34 miles to the gallon. I got that number by driving like an old man. The tank before I averaged 10.96 miles to the gallon. I have a 30 gallon tank

I'm starting to think that your wife is a closet "lead foot", drives like Miss Daisy when with you and like Tony Stewart when feeling her freedom!! hahahaha

4.1 gears going that fast on the freeway might contribute to bad mpg.

No bubba my Tahoe has 4.10 gears and all the mods a 6.0 bored and stroked and a 4L80E transmission, and I get better fuel Econmy then the wife's stock Tahoe!

And yes she drives fast we both do but neither of us Jack Rabbit start in her Tahoe. Mine is a different story we like to mess with people in mine.
