Hi, new here & have question

Hi, new here & have question. Im not sure if this is the proper place to post or not but here go

I just replaced the Steering Column Shift Mechanism on my Tahoe and i
went ahead and also replaced the shift cable. It shifts just fine but it will not
start in park. I have to start in neutral. It also does not seem to be completely
in gear at times when it is in park and i have to put emergency brake on or it
rolls. Is the cable not adjusted properly? I never touched the neutral safety
switch but someone told me thats what they thought might be the problem. It
doesn't seem like it could be the NSS if there was no problem with it before?
Can someone please help and let me know what they think might be the
problem? Thanks
