Recently picked up a 99 Tahoe LT 4wd 4dr 5.7. It's going to be a real project for me with all the repairs needed for it. Does currently starts and moves under it's on power but really can't leave town due to its Max speed of 65 mph @ 4500 rpm.

Wow, that's some miles you have there to reduce via removal and replace as necessary. I'm working that on my much lower mileage truck.

Will do on ost what I remedy. I may very well be looking at a transmission rebuild as my first major repair for it

At 65 mph you should be at around 1800 rpm. I dont think you would be that high in 3rd gear. Something definitely not right with the tranny. Good luck and keep us posted. Thanks.
