i have a 2001 tahoe that i have to physically turn on the fog lights every time the headlights turn on. i would just like them to come on with the headlights if they were on the last time. shouldn't they remember the previous setting and just turn on? the previous owner had replaced the factory fog lights with an aftermarket set, but they tapped into the factory wiring, so i'm still using the factory controls. any thoughts?

They never come on with the headlights unless you make them...hold on, lemme get the thread showing you how to use a diode to control your fogs with your headlights

---------- Post added at 10:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 AM ----------

All you have to do is put a diode from your fog light relay...to your low beam relay

Hey Blizzard, if I was to do this mod, does that mean if I turn on my fog lights and parking lighs ONLY, the headlight will come on too??

Nope :)

The diode is directional...which means, when the headlights come on, it allows current to flow into the fog light relay, turning them on. But the current cant flow backwards...so when just your fogs are on, it doesnt mess with the headlights

(thats what the gray color band is for...to determine what way you want the allowing current to flow)

I don't necessarily want to do the hi4 mod..

but..

I sure would like it if the headlights didn't turn on when I remote started the car. During the daytime it does exactly what I want.. halo's and LED bumper lights..

I want it to just turn on the halo's and LED's at night as well.. insted of the auto-low beams coming on once it's dark.

you dont have to do the 4 high mod to do the fogs..you can do any light combo that you want...

but thats impossible to do (about the headlights at night with remote start) unless you remove that function all together so they never come on again unless you use the switch (I do believe)

hmmm to scrap the auto-lights or to keep them... that is the question.

I don't mind too much.. it's just that my pass. side HID low beam flickers and dosn't start when I remote start sometimes..

they both try to come on.. but once the car cranks.. there's not enough voltage to start both lights.. and the pass. one usually stays off.

If i remote kill it, and remote start again, it usually comes on the 2nd time.

Not a big deal.

Hmmmm...sounds like a power issue during cranking...maybe theres something that can be done to fix it..I would definitely NOT scrap the auto-headlights..ever

Really? yeah I can set mine and then turn my tahoe on and the lights wont turn on unless you pull the brake or turn the switch manually.

Or maybe Im just ignorant and never noticed..iono

I know your driving lights dont come on until you put the truck into gear (during the day...took a while for me to figure that out) *with the exception of unlocking it with the remote at night*

What's the part that lets you have fog lights come on when the headlights come on? Is this something i can just pick up at Autozone?
