Where is a good place to mount GPS & XM antenna that is out of sight and still wont have problems with reception?

I'm sure you guys with aftermarket head units have some great spots.

The head unit in question is Alpine INA-W910

Here is where they are currently mounted and I want them out of the way. I thought about the upper windshield near the rear view mirror but I've been told they don't work well mounted upside down

Thanks guys

Well right off the bat the best place to mount both of those is on the exterior of the vehicle. A good idea would be to place them under the roof rack bars. You would remove the roof rack and fish the wire through the hole to the interior of the vehicle and just leave the magnetic square under the roof rack bar. In this location they wont be completely out of sight but pretty close.

Heres a pic so you can get a better understanding of what i mean. The magnetic antenna square would be placed under the roof rack bar right on top of the beginning of the rear driver window. You can see a whole on the beginning of the roof rack, there is a big bolt in that whole, just remove that screw and you would be able to lift it enough to get the wire down through that same whole. You might have to slightly shave off some metal to make enough room for the wire to go through without being pinched. but it will be just fine.

Thanks for the tips guys, I actually put it on the metal bracing underneath the dash pads so they are no longer visible. The reception seems ok using XM so I will monitor it and if it changes I might try the roof rack idea.

under dash on metal braces works awesome. mine have been in for years, maybe 3-4 years, several long distance trips and not one issue

Thanks guys

I put my XM antenna on the roof just in front of the third brake light. Most kits have long enough wiring that you can run it back that far.... A couple inches of wiring visible but I don't want to drill holes in the roof.
