A few days ago my 2014 Yukon would not shift out of park. The problem was the transmission linkage bushing which fits into the six inch metal arm coming down from the transmission. There is a slot for it held in by the transmission linkage cable. Easy repair just like the videos on YouTube although I did need to use a C-clamp as shown in one of the videos. However, the linkage loop comes off immediately after releasing any compression to put the bushing in place. Any suggestions? I'm considering fabricating a sleeve that can be bolted around the assembly to hold it in place but I'm puzzled why it keeps popping out. This is a re-post for clarity after I proofread.

There's way more than several threads here mentioning different fixes, so use the Search function to find them. Search for "shifter bushing."

Here's one:

This isn't exactly relevant, it's what I did on a 4L65E in a Hummer, but you get the idea.... fabricate.

Those bushings are a complete PITA, but with a small screw driver and some needle nose pliers, you can make it work. The bushing needs to be worked into the recess on the shifter linkage shaft (you'll see the small groove when disassembled).

I had the same problem in the parking lot of autozone in NM......in the pouring rain for all things, so I had to figure it out and this was the solution. It's been 3 years and many hundreds of shifter movements since then without any issues.
