Just got the call GM is buying back our Yukon. I have no clue what to buy tho. I really do love my Yukon but for the money (have a XL Denali 4WD) I just don't see it holding up in the long run. My husband wants a Denali 1500 truck but I think it's the same issue with it not holding up in 4-5 years. What kind of deals is everyone getting? I only got $6,000 off the 1st time and kind of feel I got ripped off but they weren't out very long and I did negotiate with every dealer within 100 miles.

Great news, but don't make the same mistake

If you want a GM SUV, go test drive a lot of them first and find a "good" one ... then worry about negotiating price

If you start shopping price first, you're going to limit your selection to whatever is on that dealer's lot

We never even got
A chance to take it in for the buffering. They offered to buy it back before we got the chance to take it in for that.
It's had steering issues, brakes replaced, mirrors replaced, 4WD issues, air vents replaced, lane departure replaced a few times, front camera problems, rear camera problems, carpets replaced, navigation issues, vibration in seat replaced, head liner replaced and that's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there is more :(

... And you want another one?
There isn't really many options out there for people who need a lot of room. My husband is 6'5 so even with most midsize SUV's his seat goes all the way back and my kids are tall so they don't fit behind his seat. We almost bought a QX80 and his knees rubbed on the dash.

It should of been. Just thankful they finally decided to buy it back so I don't have to spend every week at the dealership.

You want a GM vehicle?

Find a good, used previous generation (GMT-900) platform Yukon or Yukon XL/Denali. I steered far away from the new platform because of the ridiculous issues it has, mainly buffeting.

I bought a 2012 Yukon Denali for $38K. It took me about 5 months to find it, but it is a true gem: well taken care of, 34.5K miles on the clock. Has NONE of the issues of the newer platform. Here's my thread.

Hmmm... Yeah, I don't think there's anything comparable in size other than an Excursion. I'm not one with a positive opinion of the 2015+ GM SUV other than appearance. But, 'best wishes' going forward.

We don't really care about the brand honestly just need something b
curious...what were the steering issues?
It was making a clicking noise when turning and they had to replace something but it took 2 tries for them to get it right.

We are dealing with that as well with our 15. They are claiming the entire steering shaft needs replaced while I'm fighting with them to do the tsb that replaces sleeve and spring. I wouldn't care except it will be out of pocket as we are past 36k.

It's $300 vs $1200. From what I've read here and other places, the steering column/shaft is not the issue. Two dealers now and they don't have a clue. I Tried to push GM to cover the repair given it is a known problem with the 15s but no luck.

GM customer service is a joke and that's being nice. If Ford did the 18 Expedition/Navigator right, GM will be forced to change as they will lose a lot of buyers based on the '15-17 trucks.
