People always say that putting 89 octane with 10% Ethanol in It is better then 87. I disagree if you engine calls for ethanol than fine But putting ethanol in a non ethanol engine will damage it sooner than later it will get gummed up and not run efficiently with years of ethanol slime tarnishing your engine. On thing they don't tell you about ethanol is its not made for regular engines even if it is 89 octane with 10% ethanol. Ethanol on a regular engine is not good no matter what amount it may burn up but the residue left behind is gumming up your cars made for regular octane, If you have a Hybrid that's fine but all three of mine take mainly 93 or 87 at times
but if it says mixed with ethanol I stay clear. If I had a hybrid I will be all over it but until then non ethanol for me.

It´s so easy to check if you "can" put in ethanol.
Check your vin. I have a 2002 Z, so I can put in E85 (same stuff, other name).

isnt ethanol the stuff you use in those vehicles that have the flex fuel badge on them
because the difference in a tahoe that has the flex fuel has a corrosion resistant fuel system becuase i beleive ethanol is corrosives it will eat up a normal fuel system

Mine doesn't show the flex badge. Number 8 vin is Z. Since it is a 2002 year model, it's no problem to use E85/ethanol. It even says ethanol or gas on the inside of the fuel cap door. I have used it for some time now without any problems. Plus side is that it's a little cheaper if you take in account the price per liter difference and mileage versus gas. But not a lot. On gas response is a little better. 450 usd +/- on 6500 miles. So no big difference. As I see it the yearly roadtax here in Sweden is for free (about 450 usd).
