Damn dude. There's a poltergeist running around screwing with folks who have '99 hoes. I just blew the valve guides in my K5. Yay.

haha. well the rest of it went really well other than getting the stupid filler hose back on. things a PITA.

carrier and pump came right out, got the pump switched over to the new carrier, and back in it went. strainer on the original was nasty, but it was all still GM factory parts. made it to just over 175,000 miles. (pump is still going) new tank breather things went right in without any problem, cut all the new hose to size, hell the wiring harness was even factory spec, no splicing, no ********. that tank is one TIGHT fit in the 2-doors. had to wedge it back up with the floor jack, new strap bolts.

drove it once and filled her back up. so far no gas leak. got a few pics of the carrier and the pump assemblies, the assembled tank, and other misc i'll put up sometime soon.

get to pick up the radiator for the IROC in the morning, hopefully i don't hit any snags with that.

well it was doing great until the pump shit out on me last night about a quarter mile from the house. $70 tow charge. new Delphi pump went in it this afternoon. took about an hour and a half to drain all 30 gallons back out of it and about an hour to drop the tank and change the pump. Greased the shit out of the fittings to hopefully keep them from getting like they were if i ever have to drop it again.

Delphi Pump -Napa
Pump Carrier- Autozone (only one who had it)
Hoses- Napa
Tank Breathers/Returns/whatever they are called- O-Rileys
Strap bolt kit- O- Rileys
Filter O-Riley's (not installed yet, nuts are frozen yet again. project for another day.)

Make dern sure you're getting proper current to the pump. Just don't blow yourself up. That's frowned upon here.

THATS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU DON'T REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP... so after about an hour and a half hand pumping 30 gallons of gas back out of the hoe pulling the tank back out again and dropping in the $100 Delphi Pump shes good as NEW!

Overall changing it all out is easy as HELL once you get the lines undone. Anyone with basic tools and a jack can do this. don't pay the dealer $800 for this crap. :idiot:

We need to start getting some of these threads stickied.

same procudure for an 01 too, but they left out, drop the back of the tank 1st and make sure that you dont try to lower the tank with your leg as it will be pinned under because gravity makes what fuel that is left in it go to that end. i would still be under there if my wife wouldnt have heard me yelling to go get my prybar.
