This should have been a fairly straightforward fix, BUT.....
New to me 09 Tahoe LS. When we got it, it had an engine code for a miscommunication on the fscm relay. I did not hear the part where the dealer was hand-waving a splice etc. In repairing some other small things, we found a mystery wire jammed in the ignition circuit on the fuse board and into the front of the FSCM connector to where the power out to the fuel pump goes, and a great big burnt out hole of plastic.
We noticed the truck had a fscm from flashmasters installed. After changing the connector plug, we tried it to see if it would start. Nope. So I ordered one of those no programming needed dorman ones. Nope. The truck cranks but no start. We tried jumping across the connector and we do have action on the fuel pump, and when the hot wire was intact, it ran well. We have checked all the fuses, replaced relays. We took off the green seal thing and tried that. Our thought is some shop somewhere could not get the flashmaster one to work so just hotwired it. Fuel pump was replaced in 2017.
What am I missing?? The spartan Auto video says if you have a working pump and voltage to the 3 leads, you should have a working fscm.
I appreciate any ideas.
