Front differential differences

I did try and search first like 6 pages and came up empty.

So I need a front diff for my 07. 07-08 have a specific gt5. They look remarkably similar to the 01-06 version. Can I use it?

Found one locally and curious if it’s gonna work. If not what makes this one so specific?

GT5 is the code for 4.10 gear ratio. Where do you see this "GT5" code?

I know what gt5 means. What makes the 07 different from the 06? That’s all I wanna know. 07-08 don’t have 6l80. Newer body style. Idk if the housing itself changed and if it hasn’t I’d like to go buy it

One of the big differences between an 06 and 07 was switching from torsion bars to struts up front. I *believe* the front diff mounts may be a little different, but I could be wrong.

I took screen shots of both and maybe they are the same? The 1st image is an 07 and up

Not sure if this matters or where the distance change happens, but the CV axles on the 2000-2006 units are shorter than the 2007-2014 units.

Hmmm the 01-06 is also narrower right? So maybe it’s the geometry with the suspension and where the hub was placed.

You are right. Who knows. Might only be able to use those two or rebuild the one I got but it’ll put my truck out of commission for a bit
