Thorny devils. Endemic to AUS. Some cool info if you read up on them. At the reptile center in Alice Springs.

West MacDonnell Range outside of Alice Springs

This is Standley Chasm a series of gorges and cuts in the rock Dating to billions of years old

This spot we hiked the 2km up to it twice to see the sunlight strike and walk across the chasm at high noon as it painted the walls and brought out the deep color changes of the Outback

Pretty cool just watching it change right before your eyes. There is nothing like the colors that I have ever see out there

Just like Kings Canyon a few hours south, they just rise up in the middle of the desert

Ross River Resort. Good history at this link. From the late 1800s.

Currently has only 15000 acres and I surrounded by ranches with near 1 million acres and stockyard holding penas of 10000 acres.

They round up the cattle on the property twice per year by helicopter and ATVs.

Morning on the road in the Outback. A couple of long days driving to eat up the 1300km to get down south for the second half of the trip.

Royal Flying Doctors airstrip in the middle of the Outback on the only highway that cuts north to south between Adelaide and Darwin. Some 3200km.

Another road train but at a favourite stop of ours the Kulgera Roadhouse. We camped for the night on the way north and fueled on the way south. The landscape and red dirt is just not like anything.

Chateau Tununda Barossa Valley. The entire region is known for their Shiraz.

They make some great gins as well. One of the favorites was gin infused with Shiraz wine.

One of the perks of a campground near the ocean with a cold morning view of the surf. Apollo Bay, Victoria on the Great Ocean Road.

Took the kids to this killer zipline and treetop park set among the gum trees.

Had the entire park to ourselves. They let us play for 4 hours. 5 circuit courses with zip lines, obstacles, a free fall into the cargo net, a free drop. Kids and us had a blast!!

Turned in the campervan today. 1-24 June 2019.

7246 total trip km driven
4347 total trip miles driven

Fuel cost unknown mainly because I don’t want to know right now. Lol

See map for general look at where we drove.

Highlights were Rankins Springs, Renmark, Burra, Glendambo, Coober Pedy, Kulgera, Uluru, Kings Canyon, Alice Springs and the West and East MacDonnell Ranges, Clare and Barossa Valleys, all of the Great Ocean Road, Ballarat, Kiama and Sydney.

We saw wild emus, kangaroos, dingos and many birds.

An Unbelievable trip for the family and the kids. Something they will never forget.

Met many cool people.

Experienced -2 to 31C during our travels.

That wraps up our Outback and Great Ocean Road trip.
