No I don’t look at that ever or care in the slightest bit what it says. I change oil at 5k on all my vehicles whether they be gas or diesel or run synthetic or conventional. Haven’t had a major engine problem yet in 36 years of drivingA lot of times oil looks different on stick when you check level then when its in oil catch can.At 5,000 miles do you remember percentage left on dash?
Interesting, I don't recall anything in the 2022 owners manual about changing oil before towing, only not to tow during break in...The owner's manual (2021 Tahoe Z71) says not to tow any trailer during the first 500 miles and recommends that you change the engine oil before you first tow a trailer. I needed to tow our race car in an enclosed race trailer three weeks after buying our Z71, so I performed an oil and filter change at 550 miles myself just to be on the safe side.

No sweat, clean oil is always good oil.I dropped the oil early as I could not find any info what the factory oil is. I’d like it to be a full syntetic. The 5.3 runs flawless! really happy with it, like to keep it that way, maybe it does nothing but will drop it again at 4500 miles in two weeks.
Same reason I wax my car or wash it. sleep better at night. It may not actually do much for the car..
