I wouldn't bother arguing about the newer tech. It seems on this forum, people who don't even have one of this generation truck will comment about them. If you don't like the technology on our newer trucks fine, some of us have no problem with it. Start Stop has been around quite a while. It saves fuel and less pollution. I barely notice it on my 2021 Suburban.
I really don't get how this is misunderstood...

I wouldn't tell you what to do with your own truck. ASS clearly saves fuel, and if you want it on your new truck, all the power to you. Not everyone does, but they are shoehorned into the negatives with no option. THAT is the rub, see?

Negatives being potential issues due to the huge multiplier on engine starts (these can be debated and you can turn it off at least) and R&D costs which you must pay in the MSRP...

I really think we should either put up or shut up. Either deal with the negatives, IE 10% worse economy, of a solid ICE, or put those R&D dollars into better electric/hybrids. Why are we screwing around with these fancy dancy in-betweenies? If pollution is such a big deal, aren't electrics or hybrids better?

Does this make sense or not?

Another thing supposed to reduce pollution is AFM. AFM can lead to increased oil consumption. Which means burning.

Not sure how much better the young T1s are than GMT900, but it's kind of laughable to worry about 10% fuel savings when we have a mini 2 stroke V8. Burning oil is way worse than a little gas in terms of pollution. So turn off your AFM for the environment!

I do. 2019 Equinox. How does the owner I know deal with it in hot days? He lets his foot off the brake to restart the engine...GM fixed it in subsequent years.

Any thoughts the other points I mentioned?

See, this can be a reasonable discussion :)
I had a 2019 Equinox that my daughter used for commuting to school. As soon as I realized there was no shut-off button on the car, I bought a Range Disabler so she didn't have to shift through the gears manually to keep it off. That was an added expense of roughly $200 that I didn't want, but I gladly paid for it to eliminate that annoying feature. My 2019 Enclave had the same problem.

The DFM on my 21 Sierra caused the lifters to fail at 5,000 miles. I sold it almost immediately after that, and now I drive a 24 Yukon with the 3.0 Duramax, which still has the annoying ASS feature.

Exactly. The vast majority who post in the 21+ threads are generations behind. And their vernacular shows us exactly who they are. Doesn't make sense to me how some just want everything to stay in the stoneage or how tech averse they are because of one random piece of data they clutch tight.

10% is huge. Doesn't matter what the context is. Whether its engines or banking or investments.

Yeah the vernacular is different. I came here to talk sense into y'all.

Actually I just hopped on an interesting thread I saw on the homepage.

See, I knew some T1 guys knew...
Sorry you had problems with the 21. 5K is insane.

Again, the point is, the minute you start burning oil, caused by things like AFM, any savings are wiped out in a very short time. From a pollution standpoint.

You can't be this thick, I

Waaaaaaiiiiittt. You trolling me bro?

Good one, you got me. Seriously, bravo. :Handshake:
You get what I'm saying. An eighth grader would...

No one is burning oil between oil changes. If you are in a measurable way something is wrong.

You guys seem to have this 'idea' that tech sucks regardless of what it is because the gubment. Every single thread in this forums that despises technology has to do with either a BS conspiracy or the gubment (dont even mention how its 95% folks who have never owned the things they are talking about)

Pretend I agree with you and move it along. Forums have always been a place for people to get real life info and solutions. Now its just conspiracy.

Lifters have been dropping in gm vehicles for a long time before afm/dfm. Transmissions have been failing before the 8speed. Electronics have been failing before touchscreen. I literally paid for my college and my first few houses because of GM warranty work. But yeah the new stuff is the problem.

In the words of Charlie Brown, "Good grief!".
