I don't think this is actually about saving anything. It's about, "Look, we can make you do this ridiculous boolshlaka and even feed you a line to make you believe it's making a difference."

Say the elite globalist illuminati at the WEF.
Sorry had to throw that one in there to prove I'm a conspiracy nutjob ;)

Just because you're paranoid don't mean they ain't after you.

CAFE mandates are why systems like these are put on vehicles. Without any of these, maybe the companies wouldn't be able to make these size vehicles we all love and drive. Every tiny bit of fuel economy savings adds up to the manufacturer. The first vehicle I remember having start/stop was a 1988 Cavalier which was a test car that Valeo did with GM Research. That showed a 10% fuel economy improvement but was pretty crude in operation.

It works. It saves gas. Leave it on a switch like it is. Maybe give the option of turning it off permanently instead of pressing button everytime.
Vast majority of people benefit from it.
I agree with you that the technology monitors other systems like battery, and starter health and it wont allow ASS on a cold engine. The starter is basically the only component that has an adverse reaction on but they do mitigate that with beefier starters. YEs, when the tech first come out there were issues like most tech until the bugs get worked out. I think most ppl believe that it damages the engine, the hardest thing to do to an engine is start it when it is cold, this system does not allow ASS until the engine is at operating temperature.
All that being said if I had a vehicle that had it I would probably disable it due to the fact I have a few friends with this system and I am not a fan.

I have had my Carbyte for a little over a month now and it disables ASS and DOD. I haven’t noticed much difference other than I don’t have to push the button to turn off ASS before installing Carbyte.
The ride might be a little smoother due to running full time V8 but the DOD was never really noticeable to me especially with highway driving. I usually have some audio running and the roads I travel are pretty flat and smooth. Not many lights and the traffic is rarely stop/go even when I think it’s bad. That might be the reason I never noticed the DOD.

The fuel economy doesn’t seem to change much running V8 but there is a slight difference. The difference I can see is that in tow mode my mileage display was about 10 mpg prior to installing Carbyte. Now I am seeing 9.5/9.8 mpg on the display.
Towing might be the best indicator as I always drive conservative, no full throttle acceleration or aggressive driving and always on the same 12 mile section of flat smooth road.
That’s around a 0.5% decrease in fuel efficiency running full time V8 and no ASS.

This is a difference that is measure able and objective but is it significant?
I think driving aggressively vs conservatively can yield more than 20% in fuel economy. This is observed data from my DIC - using full throttle acceleration in full V8 is using fuel. Is it worth it? Absolutely! lol

The significance for any one vehicle and its owner is that it costs about 1% in terms of fuel consumption, but the engine will last longer and keep more of its resale value.
The significance for GM ... Cylinder Confusion is a feature for GM, a bug for us.
GM multiplies the (projected) minuscule fuel savings by the number of vehicles they sell;
1MpG per vehicle × 1,000,000 vehicles IS very significant for GM -
otherwise we'd've never had Engine Half@$$ / Cylinder Confusion / AutoStopStart.
