Hello fellas back in march my engine started ticking in the morning then after warm up it would stop. I changed the lifters and it went away but now it's back I was thinking it was the oil pump but the pressure is normal has anyone had this issue with their engine that could point me in the right direction thanks. Btw my tahoe is a 98 4x4 5.7

Ticking can be sticky valve lifters or poorly adjust valves. Perhaps thos you might be hearing piston slap for the noise.
Mine does the same thing. I was thinking maybe an exhaust leak from the manifolds? I think she still has the original gaskets on. Shes got 73k miles.... But i dont think she was well taken care of from the previous owner (japanese guy) in japan......

break out a stethoscope.
Mine is still ticking at start up and then dies down when it warms up...what exactly is piston slap? The piston slapping the bottom of the head? That sounds pretty serious....

excessive clearance between the piston and cylinder wall. most prevalent when cold but should disappear as the engine starts to heat.

Is ticking definitely from engine or lower? I've heard exhaust manifold gaskets "tick" before. The donut ones where exhaust mounts to manifolds.

that would be more like muffled pulses as it sees 4 pressure spike very close together. ticks from the exhaust are more from the individual manifold runner to head.
So, mine still ticks like crazy. Especially when I get on it. And I can here it in the cab if I don't have my stereo on. I'm thinking it might be lifters or rocker arms. Are the rocker arms able to be tightened?

What is your oil pressure? Got to have some details. Newest thing in your post is that you hear it now when you "get on it." That was never said before. Is that new or always been there? I would guess the lifters at this point because the piston slap goes away after warmed a little. What engine again and year of rig? I started typing before I thought to ask this so if you posted that I will lose this if back up to find. I am guessing is an 07. If your mileage is still low like was in earlier post than may not be lifters. Again, lets hear some finite details.
