I have a new 2023 GM Yukon Denali that randomly likes to slam on the brakes when backing out of my driveway. This was a minor inconvenience compared to yesterday when I couldn't even back out of my garage with the bike rack installed. I've looked online and gone through the vehicle settings and can't find a way to turn off active braking assist for reverse. I'm coming from a 2021 Denali ultimate and the new technology is not an upgrade.

I do not have a T2xx but there should be something noted in the owners manual probably under towing functions I would start there

Try turning off the park assist using the switch on the left dash...May also consider setting the RPA to On with Towbar, might help your bike rack situation.

Or you can permanantly disable in the vehicle settings under Rear Pedestiran Braking, I think.

They don't come with a paper copy of the Owner's manual anymore. I just downloaded a pdf copy. I actually had to google to find out how to turn off reverse active braking (RAB). Its the park assist button on the left hand side- thanks WalleyemikeIII

Did not know that, I understand the pdf is much easier to use, you can go right to what you are looking for by using the glossary and clicking on the subject.

There not in the vehicle when sitting on the lot, you get them once the papers are signed and you get the owners manual and keys from the salesman.

Anyone know about GMC vehicles? I just emailed the salesman who I've purchased multiple vehicles from and he is adamant that they no longer provide paper copies.

You can click the "Order a Printed Manual" link on that site and have one sent to you. you should have gotten with the vehicle...I would make your dealer purchase it for you.

That said...it is integrated into the Infotainment Unit, Built into the MyGMC app on your phone, and downloadable as a linked and searchable PDF document from the same link above...I find it more useful in its PDF form on my computer, and the 2nd most useful form is in the MyGMC app. (because you can search)

Just bought one last Friday and it had a 2023 Essential Operating and Safety Manual in it. Plus a 10? page pamphlet called Getting to Know Your Yukon. They call these Guides. Manuals must have lots more info and is downloadable from GMC.com.

Some of these owner's manuals are a joke. I was trying to find the correct oil filter for my '97 Tahoe and looked in the owner's manual. Looked under 'oil', 'filter', 'specifications', 'parts', 'replacement parts', etc. I finally found it by thumbing page-by-page though the book. It was under 'N' for 'normal replacement items'. o_O

Hmmm. I tried hitting the park assist button (light goes out) and tried alert only in infotainment. Stupid truck still holds brake to keep me from backing onto my lift, making me press the accelerator to move, which is an accident waiting to happen.

My wifes Yukon has 2 quirks, the Reverse Active Braking, which I turn off when backing, the other is the Active Hill Assist , which I despise just as much. The Active Hill Assist is engaged when you are on an incline of 5% or more, it holds the brakes for 1.5 seconds after you take your foot off the brake. I just take my foot off the brake and wait, and wait, and wait, finally starts moving with just the engine idle. My brain thinks it's longer than 1.5 seconds, I haven't timed it to see if my brain is right, or the owners manual.

I thought if you taped the accelerator pedal it would release the active hill assist.

With a nice dangerous jerk. Getting on the lift was a pucker event... I found just gentle pressure on the gas pedal works, too, but you gotta kind of time it, getting off before it releases. Stupid design. #lastnewcar
