You mentioned the connectors on the Dorman mirror and the other problems. I have stated several times, and so have many other members, never buy anything electrical from Dorman. I have 3 of their exhaust manifold broken stud clamps on my rig and they work great.
I now know and knowing is half the battle :)

the next question then is...
did the dorman mirror power function work?
if yes then all you need to buy a is the motor for your oem mirror, in which case there are many used oem ones on ebay. they are fairly easy to remove and replace you can do it in about 15 minutes with a couple small hand tools. you don't even have to remove the mirror from the truck.

Also, might be able to cannibalize the Dorman to repair the OEM--if you're not sending it back for a refund.
Where are you located? I'm in NJ and I have both sides in my garage. If you're local I could just give them to you. They might be good to fix yours.

Yes they worked. I made sure I checked it all so I know it was the mirror that was the issue.

I am on Long Island. I am sending it back. thanks though. What parts would I need if you can let me know. I may be able to find them on ebay and fix it that way. I called a salvage yard today and they said they could get one but it would be $250 used.

Not really sure what parts you'd exactly need. I'd assume the motor itself. It's what the mirror is attached to. I'm not familiar with the nnbs mirror internals as I have an nbs.
Here's a pic of mine with the mirror off. 20190511_135604.jpg20190511_135604.jpg20190511_135609.jpg20190511_140435.jpg20190511_143426.jpg

These are the nnbs mirrors I have--somewhere--in my garage.
Basically for parts, as I've never tested them, but I was told they worked.

I sont see the white wire which is what I have. I have the foldable/heat/signal ones. My "motor" which I spent a few days looking for I could not find the exact one. Not sure if it was maybe from a different vehicle or not but I couldnt find it online for the life of me.

If I just buy the actuator would this maybe make the mirror work again? I may pick it up from amazon and try it out.

I see it is "paintable" Can I just take the cap off of my old one and put it on this one? The dorman that I tried today was way to zoomed in on the mirror. Made me dizzy. Hopefully this isnt the same. Ill contact seller. thanks!

Pretty sure you can use your old caps.

I don't think it is two caps. It is worded funny. The paintable and textured cap is one in the same, IMO. Theoretically, you should be able to swap your old caps but your old caps are older plastic and may break at the holding tabs. I tried on mine and they did. Had to get the new caps painted.

I bought them. If need be I can paint it. Now to fix my internal lock issue which the plastic piece broke off (right of image). Do you happen to know what this is called? It connects to the outside handle with the cable/ball. I cant find any part numbers on it.

there all the same from 07-14 as far as the motor/actuator goes, take off the cap and glass and it's 4 star bit bolts.
didn't see any used ones with a brief search but there are a million ways to search because of the way people list them

Gobs to pick from here depending on your options:https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...assembly,outside+mirror+&+glass+assembly,1304

If you supply all your options, like puddle/courtesy light, heated, off road package and if chrome....I will look for you at GM sites and give you a GM number to get a good Genuine GM mirror instead of the aftermarket stuff. Unless you are looking for a mirror that will be cheap and who knows how long will work.

i'm looking for the right side mirror on mine -- the power fold stopped working.

I have power fold, heated, turn signal, puddle lamp, dimming. Any help with part #?

This is a Dorman mirror and I hate Dorman products but do recommend using the supplied GM numbers and cross to Genuine GM parts if available. Look at RA for all the options like smooth or textured mirror caps.
