Hello. I'm new to the forum and tahoes. I'm looking to replace the door speakers, front and rear. I was wondering what size they are. It looks likes there is to of them in the front doors. Also it's a non bose system.
Any input helps and thanks..

front is 6.5"
rear is 5.25"

the front opening is 6.75" but it will still accept a 6.5" and mount fine

if I may recommend you getting RF Punch speakers they are relatively inexpensive and sound amazing on power and will get loud as well :)

crutchfield is way overpriced IMO. I bought some pyle 6.5 component kit speakers for my 98 durango and they sound amazing! the site says they are $97, but you can get some through ebay for half that. Here's a link if you want:

BTW I just got my first Yukon (it's an 01 XL with all the trimmings) and it does not disappoint :D. well except for a few blown speakers and the highs are so horrible and loud.

:imo: you should only buy your headunit from crutchfield.. sure it may be a little pricier than other places but you get some of the best online and phone support and they send everything needed to install it

anyways I strongly suggest the RF Punch components
they are less than $100 for the 6.5's and sound very nice.
they are also very easy to wire because they have a crossover in the mid so you just wire the tweeter to the mid and run one wire to your amp and call it done.

if you have any more questions about this or need help picking some speakers PM me and I'll help you get situated :)

Is this the same for a 2005 GMC Yukon SLE?

Yes but all you really need to worry about are front and rear doors and the back pillar speaker/tweeters. I am guessing that with an SLE trim you do not have Bose which means you won't have A pillar tweeters or a console sub.

The rear 8" sub was only in the early 2000-2002 trucks. It moved to the console in 03 with the interior update.

Definitely recommend the RF Punch as I Used the RF Punch and I went thru Crutchfield.com and got everything needed for the install no factory wires cut at all and it sounds amazing!!

I removed those Pillar Tweeters and will not replace them. Replacing all the door speakers with new Alpine 6.5's and Alpine head unit will replace stock radio.

Front and rear door speakers are 6.5’s, front need adapter plates but rears don’t. Be sure to match the impedance of speakers if you’re running on the factory amp especially if it’s a Bose system, since they run 2 ohm and if you put 4 ohms in there you won’t get much output.

What did you do to cover the holes where the tweeters were?
Just put the plastic back on with no tweeters inside. Nobody would ever know you really can't even tell. Just left the wires but tucked them into that insulation.

Well duh! Now I feel stupid. Sorry for the dumb question and, no, you were nice. It just sucks asking dumb questions.

The only thing I hate more than wasting my time is wasting someone else's.
