So I'm sure this Is beating a dead horse, but I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.
My new to me 08 Yukon's driver door handle is peeling. Anyone have this happen? Would it be a simple swap out if I was to find one used, or order one? I'm pretty good with stuff like this, I've just never messed with it before. I'd assume I'd have to take the door panel off to access the exterior handle? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

It's a common problem. I just purchased one from the dealer for $50 :Boo:

Is it the interior or exterior handle? There is a TSB out for the interior chrome handles peeling... I had mine replaced in both my avalanche and escalade free of charge from the dealer.

Anyone know how to get to it to get it off? I'm assuming take off the interior door panel.
Also I found a set of four online. If I changed them out would the key not work?

Just go to the dealership and talk to the service dept. Tell them to check for a TSB on the interior chrome handles peeling and they will look it up. I didn't have to give them a TSB # or anything.

Most dealerships know about the problem. When I took my Yukon in as soon as I said the word peeling they knew what I was talking about. They should replace it for free.

Hopefully replying to an old thread is not a problem, but I didn't want to create a new one with the exact same question.

I have the same problem on my 2008 Yukon. I have 1 interior door handle peeling and 2 exterior door handles peeling. Someone mentioned TSB. What is that referring to?

^ X2. Do you have to be under warranty to get it replaced for free?

TSB is a technical service bulletin. GM released one for the peeling handles and I'm pretty sure you can get it done even if you're out of your b2b 32k mile warranty.

Hello YukonCrazy,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your vehicle's door handle. Private message me if I can be of assistance with locating a dealer, warranty and recall questions or general questions about GM productions.

Safe travels,

I've already gotten this replaced under this TSB for both my vehicles... Why not just go to the dealer and ask them yourself? Worst case scenario they tell you no.

But I'm scared. No, I just live a good bit away from the dealer and it would save me a trip.

I plan to take it to the dealer this week and see what they say. I have never seen paint stick to plastic that long anyway. I would prefer metal door handles.

Call the service department and talk to one of their service reps about it. It'll accomplish the same thing.
