Can I run just 4.56 in the rear diff and leave it stock in the front as long as I don’t engage 4wd? With drive shaft still attached? Replaced the rear diff and not front yet and my Speedo is way off.

The tires can have a lot to do with it too. There is a way to work it out on paper but yes, you will need some tune work. Contact a vendor here, Black Bear Performance, and see what they say.

Sounds like you've done it already. On the generation after yours, the computer system would have a fit with one axle turning a different speed than the other. Doing so on those turns off the ABS and other safety features.
