Hey all,
I bought a chevy 07 Tahoe ltz 4x4 last November. Once I had drove it a little more I started noticing a crazy noise only when I made REALLY sharp turns. I am unaware if the sound is coming from front or back. Then I had some lights pop up. They were stabillitrak and traction control. I rushed the Tahoe to a local shop. Asked them to drive it explained the lights etc. During that visit they changed the following
1.rear diff cover gasket 2. rear diff oil 3. engine mounts 4.radiator flush 5.front sway bar link kit 6.upper control arms 7.rf axel shaft
After 2800$ a week later lights and noise was back.... I then took it to my local chevy dealer... There they replaced the 1.lf wheel bearing hub assembly and the steering angle sensor. Lights were gone noise remained. Yesterday I took it to an all new mechanic for the noise. He said the U joints and changed those. After I left the noise was not quite as bad as it used to be and as often but It it still real bad when making sharp turns. I am out of options and mechanics. If you have had this before or have any ideas PLEASE HELP!! I sent a youtube link to view and hear the noise

That's a bearing of some kind but I cannot tell where from the video. You still have an original hub and CV shaft up front and the original front differential.

Others will chime in soon enough.

So after all that has been done, any more lights on the dash?

Do you have an Android or an IPhone? I ask because there is a free app in the Apple store called CarScanner that can pull codes from all of the little computers throughout your Tahoe with an OBDII adapter. if she's throwing codes, you can pull them up with that app on your phone and we can provide more accurate assistance.

On the other hand, that noise sounds like a bearing to me, like a bad hub or an internal bearing inside your front axle/differential.

Either way, knowing the problem is half the battle and can save you thousands in unnecessary costs:

I do i have an android I'll check that out. Right now there are no lights on thankfully park assist comes and goes on rate occasions.

It sounds like the front differential. What setting do you have the 4wd in? Is the little orange light illuminated on the switch? I keep mine in 2H all the time.

sounds like metal on metal from the video
during any of these expensive repair attempts did you go back and a complain that the problem is not fixed?
could be brakes, hub, axle, differential
I can tell you it is not u-joints or driveshaft
it needs to be on a lift and wheels turned while in gear, if the sound is not present then a load needs to be applied, applying some brake+gas perhaps

it's not from being in 4wd, the tires would be grabbing, especially on dry pavement and turning sharp like that.
Gotcha. I was wondering if maybe it was in auto and trying to engage but the gears just clanking around. I tried my 4wd 2 years ago and it made that same sound, I put it back in 2H and haven't moved it since. I also think its a metal on metal sound. Three different shops firing the parts cannon at it is unfortunate.

Noise sounds fast for the speed he's going..
Power steering pump? That would have been an easy noise to pinpoint..

It sounds too fast to be driveline related to me, sounds like it's connected to engine speed..

BAD STARTER? I wouldn't be shocked after feeling my old starter..

In case you haven't heard about it, the starters get super loose.
Sometimes the gear won't retract fully, oftentimes only in certain positions it will be hanging out enough to hit the flexplate gears.
I remember one example where the guys truck made noise on the driveway because truck was pointed downhill.
I replaced my starter pro-actively because I couldn't let myself put such a loose feeling part back in, was how bad it felt.

That was my thought as well, sounds like gears (explains the fast noise and metal-metal sound)
Even if not in auto, but the actuator got stuck somehow...

But again, I think the sound jives more with engine speed than driveline speed..

Since the lights are out and the warnings come back only occasionally, I'd be leaning towards the hub(s). The hub is a mechanical item with a sensor attached to it and when the signal is interrupted, it will trigger the warnings on the dash. You don't want to drive too much on this until it's resolved, heaven forbid one of the wheels falls away while you are driving. You'll be ok, but someone could get killed from your loose tire.

The android phone with the Torque Pro app cannot see BCM or Chassis/Brake codes, only the engine codes.

You might consider taking it back to the people who replaced one of the hubs and tell them that the noise never went away. It may be the other hub, or your new one is bad or it could be something else. With the car in the air, make them show you the source of the noise to minimize the chance of you being taken advantage of.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

As has been said, that does sound like a metal on metal bearing noise. I would have guessed a hub bearing and/or power steering noise as well. There is still a RF hub bearing and the front diff fluid to check and there may be a problem with the power steering pump internals or the mounting/belt of the pump.

By the way, you never said that I can see, what is the mileage and when you bought, did you get previous repairs and maintenance paperwork with it?

I hear tingy-ness on my laptop speakers.. sounds a lot like flexplate-starter contact.
I CAN NOT hear it through my bose bluetooth speaker.

Sounds the warning lights were fixed with the new hub...
BUT, she says the noise got a little better after the new hub was installed.
Possible it was two separate noises?

A starter would be cheap preventative maintenance.
I guarantee if you remove the starter, once you feel it in your hands, you'll want a new starter!

You could pop the inspection cover (pry off with a screwdriver) on the bottom of your bellhousing and check out the flexplate teeth.
Look for any rub marks on the frontside of flexplate teeth (engine side).
